Together for Lincoln to Transition from a Day to a Way
Will discontinue Fall Service Day

[August 07, 2015]  LINCOLN - After seven years of community service to the city of Lincoln, the board of Together for Lincoln has decided to discontinue our annual workday. It was always the intent of Together for Lincoln to encourage the residents of Lincoln to move from a day of service to a way of service.

At its inception in 2008, TFL was established as a non-denominational organization of Lincoln churches. The central purpose of this organization was to provide a practical means of demonstrating to the community that the Churches of Lincoln care about the needs of the residents of our city. The heart of our focus has been the organization of work projects to be completed by community volunteers in a mass coordinated effort taking place across our city on a designated annual workday with additional projects being completed at other times throughout the year. We have constructed over fifty wheelchair ramps, completed over sixty weatherization projects, and hundreds of general home improvement projects which we feel have been beneficial to our residents and community. It is our hope that Lincoln residents will always be aware of the needs of their neighbors, friends, and community and be ready to help meet these needs as they arise.

To this end we feel that we have accomplished our mission. We have been blessed with tremendous commitment and support from our community volunteers, businesses and church leaders. Several churches and community groups have established outreach programs and we have seen many individuals step forward to continue the mission of TFL.

As a final project TFL will be constructing a community picnic shelter in Ray White Park.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported TFL throughout the years. Without all of you it would not have been possible. We hope that we have improved the community of Lincoln and made a difference that will continue to bless this community.
