Cubs 7, Giants 3
Jon Lester allowed two runs on six hits in a strong seven-inning
outing while Chicago Cubs batters backed him with a 12-hit attack in
a 7-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Lester (7-8) also struck out three and walked two before Hector
Rondon worked 1-2/3 scoreless innings for his 18th save.

Mets 4, Rays 3
Wilmer Flores hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth to help the
New York Mets rally for a 4-3 win against the Tampa Bay Rays at
Tropicana Field.
Mets reliever Tyler Clippard (2-3) gave up a solo home run to third
baseman Evan Longoria to give the Rays a 3-2 lead in the bottom of
the eighth inning, but Clippard got the win.
Jeurys Familia earned his 30th save as the Mets improved to 59-50.

Blue Jays 2, Yankees 1 (10 innings)
Jose Bautista hit a tiebreaking home run with one out in the top of
the 10th as Toronto extended their winning streak to six games with
a 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees.
Bautista gave Toronto their ninth win in 10 games and helped the
Blue Jays move to within 3 1/2 games of the Yankees when he drove a
2-2 fastball from Branden Pinder (0-1) into the left-field seats.
It was Bautista's 25th home run and fourth in his last 11 games.

Rockies 5, Nationals 4
Carlos Gonzalez blasted a two-out grand slam -- his 19th homer since
June 1 -- in the top of the eighth off former closer Drew Storen as
the Colorado Rockies came back to beat the Washington Nationals 5-4.
Gonzalez slammed his 23rd homer of the year into the Washington
bullpen in right after Storen (2-1) gave up a walk and two singles
to load the bases. The winning pitcher was Scott Oberg (3-2), who
pitched a scoreless seventh.
Colorado (46-61) won for just the fourth time in 11 games while the
Nationals (56-52) lost for the sixth time in eight.

Braves 6, Marlins 3
Nick Markakis drove home two runs with a bases-loaded single in the
seventh inning to highlight a four-run rally and lift the Atlanta
Braves to a 6-3 win over the Miami Marlins at Turner Field.

Twins 10, Indians 9
Torii Hunter's home run in the top of the ninth inning lifted the
Minnesota Twins to a wild 10-9 win over the Cleveland Indians at
Progressive Field.
The victory snapped the Twins' five-game losing streak.
With the score tied 9-9 and one out in the top of the ninth, Hunter
belted the first pitch to him by right-hander Bryan Shaw (1-2) over
the right field wall for his 18th home run of the season.

Red Sox 7, Tigers 2
David Ortiz hit a two-run home run while Hanley Ramirez and Xander
Bogaerts each smacked a two-run double to pace the Boston Red Sox to
a 7-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Boston right-hander Joe Kelly (4-6) struck out seven in 5 1/3
innings with six coming in the first two innings off a sharp slider.
He was tagged for seven hits and walked two.

Pirates 5, Dodgers 4 (10 innings)
Pedro Alvarez lined a pinch-hit bases-loaded single over a five-man
infield in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Pittsburgh
Pirates a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Pirates loaded the bases with none out against Jim Johnson (2-4)
as shortstop Kang Jung-ho walked, catcher Francisco Cervelli singled
and first baseman Sean Rodriguez had a bunt single.
Left-hander J.P. Howell relieved and manager Don Mattingly moved an
outfielder into the infield, but Alvarez singled into right field
for the game-winning hit.

Cardinals 6, Brewers 0
Backed by a six-run fifth inning, right-hander Lance Lynn tossed six
scoreless innings to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-0 victory
over the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
Lynn allowed six hits and walked four but repeatedly worked out of
trouble to collect his ninth win of the season.
It was St. Louis' 12th shutout of the season, as the Cardinals
lowered their major-league leading team ERA to 2.60.

Royals 3, White Sox 2
Lorenzo Cain doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored a run as
the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 3-2.
Center fielder Cain doubled home left fielder Ben Zobrist, who began
the inning with a single, with the first run in the two-run sixth.
It was Zobrist's first game at Kauffman Stadium as a member of the
Royals after being acquired last week in a trade with Oakland.

Diamondbacks 2, Reds 0
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Welington Castillo homered and
right-hander Chase Anderson pitched seven scoreless innings in his
return from the disabled list in the Diamondbacks' 2-0 victory over
the Cincinnati Reds at Chase Field.
Castillo's bases-empty, seventh-inning home run, which gave Arizona
a 2-0 lead, was his seventh homer in his last 11 games. Castillo has
12 homers since joining the Diamondbacks in a trade with Seattle on
June 3, and his 14 homers are a career high.

Athletics 3, Astros 1
Sonny Gray pitched his fifth career complete game, outdueling lefty
Dallas Keuchel in a battle of American League Cy Young Award
contenders and leading the Oakland A's to a 3-1 victory against the
Houston Astros at the O.co Coliseum.
Gray (12-4) allowed just one run on five hits. He struck out five
and walked none, winning for the fifth time in his past six
decisions.
Keuchel (13-6) allowed three runs and 10 hits over 7 2/3 innings,
striking out three and walking two.

Mariners 4, Rangers 3
The Seattle Mariners hit three homers off new Texas Rangers starter
Cole Hamels on the way to ending the Rangers' five-game winning
streak with a 4-3 win.
Mark Trumbo, Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano all hit solo homers, with
Cruz and Cano going back-to-back in the sixth, as Seattle (51-59)
won for the fourth time in five games.
The Rangers (54-54) failed to make up ground on a night when the
American League West-leading Houston Astros lost again.

Angels 8, Orioles 4
Catcher Chris Iannetta and pinch-hitter C.J. Cron drove in two runs
apiece to lead the Los Angeles Angels to an 8-4 win over the
Baltimore Orioles at Angel Stadium.
Cron hit the Angels' first pinch-hit home run of the season. Center
fielder Mike Trout added his 33rd homer and finished with two hits.
Shortstop Erick Aybar, second baseman Johnny Giavotella and
designated hitter David Murphy each added two hits to the hosts'
13-hit attack.

Phillies 4, Padres 3 (12 innings)
The Philadelphia Phillies rallied to defeat the San Diego Padres 4-3
in 12 innings at Petco Park.
Philadelphia slugged four solo home runs, with catcher Cameron
Rupp's game-winner coming off reliever Kevin Quackenbush (1-2).
Philadelphia erased a 3-0 deficit, getting home runs from right
fielder Domonic Brown, first baseman Ryan Howard and left fielder
Cody Asche.
