[August 10, 2015]  LINCOLN - Wilbur J. Wilmert , 98, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on August 8, 2015 at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Visitation: From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday August 12, at St. John’s United Church of Christ

Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday August 13, at the church

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Lincoln    Mount Pulaski

Obituary

Wilbur J. Wilmert , 98, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on August 8, 2015 at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Wilbur was born on August 6, 1917 in Lincoln, IL; son of Fred and Minnie Dahmm Wilmert. He was united in marriage to Mildred M. Pech on May 1, 1941 in Lincoln. She preceded him in death in May of 2003.

Surviving Wilbur are his children: Dr. James (Leslie) Wilmert and Kaye Wilmert both of Lincoln; four grandchildren: David (Cari) Wilmert of Lincoln; Darin (Larisa) Wilmert of San Diego, CA; Melissa Wilmert of Bloomington; Meredith Wilmert of Champaign. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Elmer, Clifford, and Orville Wilmert.

Wilbur was a U. S. Army veteran during WWII. He was also a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office.

Services for Wilbur will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday August 13, 2015 at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Jan Johnson and Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday August 12, 2015 also at the church. Burial will be at New Union Cemetery will follow the service, where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ or the American Legion Post #263. Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
