 Blue Jays 4, Athletics 2
Jose Bautista homered while Drew Hutchison pitched into the eighth
inning as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Oakland Athletics 4-2
to extend their winning streak to nine games.
Bautista stretched his hitting streak to seven games with his fourth
home run in the past six games.
Designated hitter Chris Colabello added three hits, including two
doubles, for the Blue Jays (62-52), who ended a three-game winning
streak by the Athletics (51-63).

Rays 2, Braves 0
Erasmo Ramirez pitched seven shutout innings while center fielder
Kevin Kiermaier delivered a two-run homer in the seventh to lead the
Tampa Bay Rays to a 2-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
The Rays closed out the win with strong relief as Brandon Gomes
inherited a runner in the eighth, but got three straight outs.

Mets 4, Rockies 0
Right-handed pitcher Matt Harvey allowed four hits over eight
shutout innings while the New York Mets pulled away in the eighth
inning of a 4-0 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Harvey (11-7) walked none, struck out four and was in cruise control
in lowering his overall ERA to 2.61.

Marlins 5, Red Sox 4 (10 innings)
Second baseman Dee Gordon hit a triple to lead off the 10th inning
and scored the winning run on first baseman Justin Bour's single as
the Miami Marlins beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4.
Gordon's drive to left-center eluded the diving attempt of
left-center fielder Mookie Betts.
Miami rallied from an early 4-0 deficit and tied the score with one
run in the bottom of the ninth. Junichi Tazawa blew the save.

White Sox 3, Angels 0
Carlos Rodon escaped a first-inning jam and dominated the Los
Angeles Angels the rest of his time on the mound to lead the Chicago
White Sox to a 3-0 victory.
The hard-throwing rookie left-hander did not allow a run through
seven innings and set a career high with 11 strikeouts, including
twice striking out Mike Trout (0-for-4) and Albert Pujols (0-for-4).

Cardinals 4, Pirates 3
Starter Carlos Martinez worked eight innings as the St. Louis
Cardinals increased their Central Division lead to six games with a
4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Martinez scattered nine hits and gave up three runs, walking none
and striking out eight. Closer Trevor Rosenthal struck out the side
in the ninth to notch his 34th save.

Royals 6, Tigers 1
Eric Hosmer, Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas homered as the Kansas
City Royals blasted the Detroit Tigers 6-1.
Center fielder Cain, who went 4-for-4, led off the sixth with his
12th home run before third baseman Moustakas homered after
designated hitter Kendrys Morales drew a walk in the same inning.
Moustakas also drove in Hosmer in the eighth inning with a single.
Right-hander Yordano Ventura (7-7) gave up only two hits but walked
six while striking out eight over six innings.

Cubs 6, Brewers 3
The Chicago Cubs collected six runs over three early innings and ran
their winning streak to five with a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee
Brewers.
Brewers right-handed starter Taylor Jungmann (6-4) worked just 2-2/3
innings, his shortest outing of the season.

Twins 3, Rangers 2
Eduardo Escobar's RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the
ninth lifted the Minnesota Twins to a 3-2 win over the Texas
Rangers.

Escobar ripped a full-count offering from Spencer Patton down the
right-field line with the ball rattling off the wall, allowing Kurt
Suzuki to score from first base.
Minnesota had tied the score with a two-run rally in the eighth
inning, highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles by first baseman Joe
Mauer and designated hitter Miguel Sano.

Indians 5, Yankees 4 (16 innings)
Michael Brantley's RBI single in the bottom of the 16th inning gave
the Cleveland Indians a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees.
With one out in the bottom of the 16th, second baseman Jose Ramirez
singled off right-hander Branden Pinder (0-2).
Shortstop Francisco Lindor then singled, moving Ramirez to second
before Brantley lined a 1-0 pitch past first baseman Mark Teixeira
for a single to bring Ramirez home.

Diamondbacks 13, Phillies 1
Left fielder David Peralta hit a grand slam in an 11-run second
inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks' completed a 13-1 victory over
the Philadelphia Phillies.
Peralta also singled in a run in the fifth inning.

Padres 11, Reds 6
Padres' second baseman Jedd Gyorko hit a two-run double in the first
and a two-run homer in the second to grab four RBIs as San Diego
beat the Cincinnati Reds.
Colin Rea (1-0), in his major-league debut, pitched five-plus
innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. He walked three and
struck out four.

Giants 3, Astros 1
First baseman Brandon Belt backed the 12-strikeout, complete-game
pitching of left-hander Madison Bumgarner with two home runs to lift
the San Francisco Giants to a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros.
Bumgarner outpitched Astros ace Scott Kazmir, who surrendered both
of Belt's homers and also hurt his own cause with two errors, one of
which led to an unearned run.
Bumgarner (13-6) allowed one run on five hits with no walks.

Dodgers 5, Nationals 0
Right fielder Yasiel Puig homered, tripled and tied a career-best
with five RBIs as the Los Angeles Dodgers snapped a four-game skid
with a 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals.
Dodgers starter Zack Greinke (12-2) worked six shutout innings,
striking out six while allowing six hits and walking one and lowered
his major league-leading ERA to 1.65.

Mariners 6, Orioles 5 (10 innings)
Seattle center fielder Austin Jackson hit a bases-loaded single down
the first-base line, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the
10th inning as the Mariners beat the Baltimore Orioles.
Mariners' right fielder Nelson Cruz and designated hitter Mark
Trumbo each homered in Seattle's four-run first inning, while
Baltimore's Adam Jones and Chris Davis went back-to-back in the
eighth to tie the score 5-5.
