Cubs 2, Indians 1
Kris Bryant slugged a game-winning homer in the bottom of the ninth
as the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians.
Bryant's solo shot to left, his 20th homer of the season, gave the
Cubs their 12th walk-off victory and concluded a pitcher's duel that
ended with neither starter getting the win.
Cubs left-handed starter Jon Lester was one out away from a 1-0
shutout win but gave up a run-scoring single to Indians first
baseman Carlos Santana in the top of the ninth.
Indians starter Corey Kluber was nearly as effective in throwing six
shutout innings before allowing a run in the seventh.

Braves 5, Rockies 3
Atlanta Braves right-hander Julio Teheran gave up two early Colorado
homers before he settled as the Braves snapped a seven-game losing
streak with a 5-3 victory over the Rockies.
Teheran (9-6) allowed just two other hits in 7-1/3 innings after
giving up early homers to Charlie Blackmon and Ben Paulsen.

Reds 12, Tigers 5
Brandon Phillips hit a two-run home run before shortstop Eugenio
Suarez added a solo shot to spark a 10-run sixth inning that lifted
the Cincinnati Reds to a 12-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Suarez went 3-for-5 as the Reds (52-71) snapped a nine-game losing
streak.

Royals 8, Orioles 3
Third baseman Mike Moustakas homered during a seven-run sixth inning
to support right-hander Kris Medlen's first start in nearly two
years as the Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles.
Medlen (2-0), who missed all of the 2014 season while recovering
from Tommy John surgery, went six innings, allowing three runs on
five hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

Pirates 5, Marlins 2
Left-hander J.A. Happ pitched six scoreless innings as the
Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Miami Marlins.
The Pirates (75-48), who have the second-best record in baseball,
have won 10 of their past 12 games.

Mets 16, Phillies 7
Second baseman Wilmer Flores hit two of the Mets' franchise-record
eight homers and drove in five runs in lifting New York to a 16-7
victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Third baseman David Wright homered in his first at-bat since April
14 for the Mets.

Wright, absent the previous 115 games due to hamstring and back
injuries, went 2-for-5 but committed two errors.

Red Sox 5, White Sox 4
Right fielder Rusney Castillo went 3-for-4 with a career-high five
RBIs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 5-4 win against the Chicago
White Sox on Monday night.
Boston right-hander Joe Kelly (7-6) picked up the victory after
limiting White Sox hitters to two runs on five hits in 7-1/3
innings.

Yankees 1, Astros 0
Right fielder Carlos Beltran hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of
the ninth inning to lift the New York Yankees to a 1-0 victory over
the Houston Astros.
Closer Andrew Miller (2-2) struck out two in the ninth for the win.

A's 11, Mariners 5
Third baseman Danny Valencia gave Oakland their first lead with a
two-run homer in the fifth inning as the Athletics rallied from a
five-run deficit on the way to beating the Seattle Mariners.
The A's pounded Mariners' starter Hisashi Iwakuma in his first home
start since throwing a no-hitter in Seattle on Aug. 12 as he gave up
seven runs on seven hits in 4-2/3 innings, with almost all the
damage coming in the fifth.
Oakland right-hander Edward Mujica (3-4) earned the win after
pitching two innings of relief.

Cardinals 5, Diamondbacks 3
St. Louis third baseman Matt Carpenter homered while catcher Yadier
Molina hit a two-run single as the Cardinals beat the Arizona
Diamondbacks.
Right-hander Lance Lynn (10-8) gave up two runs in six innings to
become the Cardinals' fourth 10-game winner this season.
