[August 26, 2015]  Aug 25 (The Sports Xchange) - The Los Angeles Clippers were fined $250,000 on Tuesday after violating NBA regulations prohibiting teams from offering players unauthorized business or investment opportunities.

The NBA determined that the Clippers circumvented league rules with a presentation made to free-agent center DeAndre Jordan last month in an attempt to get him to re-sign with the team.

The Clippers included in their presentation to Jordan a potential third-party endorsement opportunity for him. Though the NBA said it ultimately had no impact on Jordan's decision to re-sign with the Clippers, it was still a violation.

The deal keeps what owner and team president Michael Jordan called a core player in the fold along with point guard Kemba Walker, who signed a four-year, $48 million contract in 2014.

Benson spent the past two seasons playing professionally in Belarus, China, Lithuania and Estonia.

He has appeared in three NBA games, all with the Golden State Warriors during the 2011-2012 season. Benson totaled no points, three rebounds and nine minutes in those three games.
