LHP David Price's seven-year, $217 million deal with the Red Sox was
finalized Friday.
Price is slated to receive $30 million annually from 2016 through
2018, $31 million in 2019 and $32 million from 2020 through 2022.
Price posted an 18-5 record with an American League-best 2.45 ERA
last season with the Tigers and Blue Jays. The 30-year-old went to
the Jays at the trade deadline in July and posted a 9-1 record with
a 2.30 ERA during the rest of the regular season to help Toronto
reach the postseason. But the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner
struggled in the AL playoffs, going 1-2 with a 6.17 ERA.

MLB Note - Arizona Diamondbacks Greinke, Zack
RHP Zack Greinke and the Diamondbacks agreed to a reported six-year,
$206.5 million deal early Friday.
Greinke opted out of a six-year, $147 million contract with the
Dodgers after his third season in Los Angeles to become a free
agent.
Greinke's contract would average $34.4 million per year, surpassing
the seven-year, $217 million deal ($31 million average per year)
that LHP David Price recently received from the Red Sox. Greinke,
32, led the major leagues with a 1.66 ERA this year while posting a
19-3 record.

MLB Note - San Francisco Giants Samardzija, Jeff
RHP Jeff Samardzija and the Giants agreed to a five-year, $90
million deal Saturday. The contract wasn't complete pending a
physical.
Samardzija, 30, struggled with the White Sox last season. He went
11-13 with a 4.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 163 strikeouts over 214
innings. He also led the major leagues in hits and earned runs
allowed, and gave up more home runs than any pitcher in the American
League. In the 2014 season, split between the Cubs and A's, he made
the All-Star team. In 219 2/3 innings, he had a hard-luck 7-13
record but a 2.99 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.

MLB Note - Baltimore Orioles O'Day, Darren
RHP Darren O'Day agreed to a four-year, $31 million deal to return
to the Orioles, multiple media outlets reported Sunday.
The 33-year-old free agent was expected to agree to a deal with the
Washington Nationals on Friday, according to the Baltimore Sun, but
the Orioles came back with a fourth-year offer.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Day, a setup reliever known for his
submarine delivery, appeared in at least 68 games in each of his
four seasons with the Orioles. In 2015, he went 6-2 with six saves,
posted a 1.52 ERA and was voted to the All-Star Game for the first
time in his career.

MLB Note - Oakland Athletics Madson, Ryan
RHP Ryan Madson and the A's agreed to a three-year, $22 million
contract, ESPN reported Sunday.
Madson, 35, helped the Royals become the World Series champions in
2015 after not playing at all the previous three seasons because of
elbow problems. Madson was 1-2 with three saves and a 2.13 ERA in 68
relief appearances with Kansas City this year as a setup man.

MLB Note - Los Angeles Dodgers Utley, Chase
2B Chase Utley agreed to return to the Dodgers on a one-year
contract, according to published reports Sunday.
Utley, who turns 37 on Dec. 17, was acquired from Philadelphia last
August, and he batted .202 with three homers in 34 games for Los
Angeles. Overall, he hit .212 with eight homers last season.
Utley is still facing a possible suspension for the first two games
of the 2016 season, stemming from his hard slide in the NL Division
Series that broke the right leg of Mets SS Ruben Tejada.
The six-time All-Star is a career .281 hitter with 236 homers and
925 RBIs. He spent his first 12-plus seasons with the Phillies.

MLB Note - Cincinnati Reds Chapman, Aroldis
LHP Aroldis Chapman could be headed to Los Angeles, as the Reds and
Dodgers are discussing a deal, multiple media outlets reported
Sunday.
Cincinnati reportedly would receive a package of prospects.

Chapman, entering the final year of his contract, has averaged more
than 15 strikeouts per nine innings in six years in the majors since
defecting from Cuba. The 27-year-old flame-thrower had several
pitches clocked at 101 mph or faster last season, including one at
102.3 mph, according to FanGraphs. Chapman's career 2.17 ERA with
146 saves could be teamed with established Dodgers closer Kenley
Jansen, who had 80 saves for Los Angeles the past two seasons.

MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Saltalamacchia, Jarrod
C Jarrod Saltalamacchia signed a one-year deal with the Tigers for
the major league minimum salary.
The 30-year-old switch hitter is owed $8 million in 2016 by the
Miami Marlins.
Saltalamacchia batted .225 with nine homers last season while
splitting time with the Marlins and Diamondbacks. He has 98 career
homers in nine big-league seasons.
"Jarrod provides catching depth to our roster and is a veteran
presence," Tigers executive vice president of baseball operations
and general manager Al Avila said in a statement.

MLB Note - Toronto Blue Jays Thole, Josh
C Josh Thole, non-tendered by Blue Jays on Wednesday, re-signed with
Toronto on Friday. He received a one-year, $800,000 deal. Thole, 29,
hit .204/.250/.245 with no homers and two RBIs in 18 games for
Toronto this year. He batted .228/.320/.262 with no homers and 17
RBIs in 45 games for Triple-A Buffalo.

MLB Note - Chicago Cubs Olmos, Edgar
LHP Edgar Olmos, designated for assignment by the Mariners on
Wednesday, was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Friday. Olmos, 25,
went 1-0, 4.50 over 14 innings in six games (two starts) with
Seattle in 2015. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A
Tacoma, going 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 games. Olmos was acquired by
Seattle from the Miami via a waiver claim on Nov. 20, 2014.

RHP Jose Ramirez was acquired by the Braves from the Mariners on
Friday for a player to be named or cash. Ramirez, 25, went a
combined 1-0 with a 12.91 ERA in eight relief appearances for the
Yankees and Mariners this year. In 41 Triple-A appearances, he had
10 saves, a 4-1 record and a 4.16 ERA.

MLB Note - Chicago White Sox Turner, Jacob
RHP Jacob Turner, non-tendered by White Sox on Wednesday, re-signed
with Chicago on Friday. He received a one-year, $1.5 million deal.
Turner, 24, was acquired off waivers from the Cubs on Oct. 27. He
missed almost the entire 2015 season due to a mild right flexor
strain and bone bruise on his right elbow, making just two starts in
Double-A. Turner has a career 11-25 record with a 4.97 ERA in 61
games (51 starts) for the Tigers, Marlins and Cubs.

C Dioner Navarro signed a one-year, $4 million free agent contract
