Lady Toppers pick up steam in second half against Warrensburg-Latham

[December 06, 2015]  MOUNT PULASKI - On Saturday, the Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers took on the girls basketball team of Warrensburg-Latham High School.

After a slow start in the first half, the Lady Toppers regrouped and got back to their winning ways.

Down 18 – 17 at half time the Lady Toppers appeared out of sorts.

However, after Coach Leever’s halftime pep talk, the ladies responded with an 18 – 9 advantage in the third period. The Toppers shot 20 for 25 from the charity stripe demonstrating their composure under pressure and came away with a 55 – 48 victory over the Cardinals.

Skylar Hayes led all scorers with 24; Alyssa Bridge had a season-high 12 points while Elizabeth Seibert, Ainsley Chandler and Breanna Rentmeister all had 6, and Hailey Moore a bucket to round out the scoring. Rentmeister brought down 8 rebounds, and Chandler and Hayes grabbed 6 each.
