This Hawkeyes (7-2) dominated from the beginning. Iowa shot
58 percent from the floor during the first half, making 10 of
its first 15 shots to jump out to a 24-8 lead. Overall, Iowa hit
50 percent of its field-goal attempts.
Iowa forward Jarrod Uthoff, a fifth-year senior, finished with a
career-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting. He also pulled down
nine rebounds.
Sophomore forward Dom Uhl also finished with 15 points and four
boards off the Iowa bench.
Two other Hawkeyes seniors provided strong outings as well.
Center Adam Woodbury finished with 10 points and four rebounds,
while guard Anthony Clemmons compiled nine points, six assists
and three of Iowa's 10 steals.
Western Illinois (6-2) got a team-high 12 points from junior
guard Garret Covington, who shot 4-for-14 from the floor. The
Leathernecks also received an 11-point, five-rebound showing
from senior forward Tate Stensgaard. The visitors shot 34.8
percent on field-goal attempts.
Iowa now shifts its attention to in-state rival Iowa State, as
the Hawkeyes will face the fourth-ranked Cyclones on Thursday at
Hilton Coliseum in Ames. Western Illinois returns home to play
Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
