Edelman underwent surgery to repair the break and the recovery
timeline had him in jeopardy of missing the rest of the regular
season. The outlook has improved with Friday's development but he
will once again sit out when the Patriots play the Houston Texans on
Sunday.
Edelman has missed the past three games but still leads the Patriots
with 61 receptions for 692 yards and seven touchdowns.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski practiced for the second straight day as he
aims to return from a knee injury suffered against the Denver
Broncos on Nov. 29. The Patriots listed him as questionable on
Friday's injury report.

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has a strong chance at
playing this Sunday after being listed as probable on the club's
injury report.
Revis hasn't played since suffering a concussion against the Houston
Texans on Nov. 22. He has been in the NFL's concussion protocol and
hasn't cleared that process yet.

The Atlanta Falcons placed kicker Matt Bryant on injured reserve as
he has been unable to recover from a quadriceps injury.
Atlanta promoted nose tackle Joey Mbu from the practice squad to
fill the opening on the 53-man roster.

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston will miss Sunday's game
against the San Diego Chargers due to a knee injury.
Houston suffered a hyperextended left knee against the Buffalo Bills
on Nov. 29.
Also listed as out for the Chiefs are safety Husain Abdullah
(concussion), defensive end Mike DeVito (concussion, shoulder) and
receiver De'Anthony Thomas (concussion). Linebacker Tamba Hali
(knee) is probable.
- - - The Buffalo Bills ruled out cornerback Stephon Gilmore
(shoulder) and running back Karlos Williams (shoulder) for Sunday's
game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Bills also ruled out linebacker Nigel Bradham (ankle),
cornerback Ron Brooks (concussion/neck) and safety Aaron Williams
(neck)

Jacksonville Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny will miss
Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts after undergoing hand
surgery.

The Washington Redskins signed running back Pierre Thomas and placed
defensive end Stephen Paea on injured reserve.
The Redskins needed more depth at running back with Chris Thompson
dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Former general manager Bill Polian and three former head coaches are
on the newly formed catch-rule committee being pushed by NFL
commissioner Roger Goodell.
According to USA TODAY Sports, ex-coaches Ken Whisenhunt, Jim
Schwartz and Joe Philbin join Polian, former NFL receiver James
Thrash and Tom Finken, a former NFL side judge who currently trains
game officials, on the committee.
Goodell has said he understands fans' frustration on the "catch or
