The celebration is co-sponsored by Heartland Community
College, Illinois State University and State Farm Insurance
Companies. The 14th annual event features shopping with local
vendors and performances in music and arts. Many local
businesses have donated items for raffles to be held throughout
the evening, including jewelry and a variety of themed gift
baskets.
Admission is free. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at
the event.
The Festival Markets are open from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. and the
entertainment programs begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, officially
begins February 19, 2015. This year is the “Year of the Sheep.”
In observance of the Chinese New Year, the U.S. Postal Service
created a stamp series featuring the 12 different animals of the
Chinese calendar.
