Team from Mount Pulaski FFA named national finalist in 2014 National FFA Agriscience Fair at 87th National FFA Convention & Expo

[February 10, 2015]  LINCOLN - INDIANAPOLIS - Hannah Riedle and Samantha McCarty, members of the Mount Pulaski FFA Chapter from Mount Pulaski, Illinois, were national finalists in the 2014 National FFA Agriscience Fair at the 87th National FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Louisville, Ky. The National FFA Agriscience Fair is a competition for FFA members who are interested in the science and technology of agriculture. It is held each year during the National FFA Convention & Expo and sponsored nationally by Cargill, John Deere and Syngenta.

FFA members compete in the national agriscience fair in one of six categories:

  • Animal Systems
  • Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems
  • Food Products and Processing Systems
  • Plant Systems
  • Power, Structural and Technical Systems
  • Social Systems

To qualify for the National FFA Agriscience Fair, students must be in grades seven through12, conduct a scientific research project pertaining to the agriculture and food science industries and present their findings to a panel of judges with a display and report.

All national participants are selected as the state winner at their state agriscience fairs and earn national competition eligibility after being placed in the top 15 within their respective categories.

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 610,240 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,665 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
