02/12/2015 MLB Note - Milwaukee Brewers Lucroy, Jonathan
C Jonathan Lucroy could miss up to six weeks due to a strained right
hamstring, meaning he could miss nearly all of spring training. The
Brewers open the regular season April 6, but Lucroy could be rested
all the way through spring training. The team said he plans to hit
and throw but not run.
Lucroy, 28, was fourth in National League Most Valuable Player
voting in 2014, but he ended the season with hamstring issues. The
Brewers said in January that there are plans to use Lucroy at first
base against some left-handed pitchers. If the "mild" hamstring
issue persists, he could get more time in the infield rather than
behind the plate.

eight seasons, and he topped 225 innings each of the past four
seasons. He was a double-digit winner in all eight years, averaging
33 starts. Shields had a 14-8 record with a 3.21 ERA, 180 strikeouts
and just 44 walks in 227 innings for the Royals last season. He lost

exchange of arbitration figures in January. Clippard, traded to the
A's from the Nationals in mid-January for INF Yunel Escobar, could
start the season as a closer for the A's while LHP Sean Doolittle is
