Canadiens 2, Red Wings 0
Tomas Plecanec's goal with 2:30 left broke a scoreless tie, and the
Montreal Canadiens defeated the Detroit Red Wings.
Canadiens goaltender Carey Price made 25 saves for his fifth shutout
of the season and the 30th of his career.
Price stopped winger Gustav Nyquist from the bottom of the right
circle with 2:48 left. Canadiens left winger Max Pacioretty added an
empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining.
Montreal (37-15-4) earned its fifth win in six games.
Goalie Jimmy Howard made 27 saves but couldn't keep Detroit
(31-14-10) from losing its third in a row.

Rangers 6, Islanders 5
Defenseman Kevin Klein scored the tiebreaking goal with 4:32 left in
the third period and the New York Rangers overcame three two-goal
deficits to edge the New York Islanders.
The Rangers trailed 3-1 early in the second period and 5-3 less than
four minutes into the third.
However, Derek Stepan and Martin St. Louis scored 1:37 apart to tie
the game before the midpoint of the third.
The Rangers (34-16-5) earned a fourth straight win which pulled them
into a tie for second place in the Metropolitan Division with the
Pittsburgh Penguins, two points behind the Islanders (37-19-1).

Canucks 3, Wild 2
Rookie center Bo Horvat and defenseman Alex Biega, playing in his
first NHL game, scored third-period goals as the Vancouver Canucks
defeated the Minnesota Wild.
Biega gave the Canucks a 3-1 lead at 11:54 of the third when he
boomed a shot from the point that screened Wild goaltender Devan
Dubnyk couldn't see.
Center Henrik Sedin added a goal and an assist for the Canucks
(32-21-3).
Nino Niederreiter scored twice for Minnesota, and center Jordan
Schroeder had two assists.
The Wild (28-21-7) saw their franchise-tying, 10-game points streak
(8-0-2) end.

Jets 5, Oilers 4 (Shootout)
The Winnipeg Jets took another step toward the playoffs with a
nail-biting shootout victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
Blake Wheeler scored the winner in the skills competition to propel
the Jets to a much-needed victory.
Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson continued his perfect streak in
shootouts this year, turning aside all three Oilers shots.
The Jets rookie has stopped all 14 shootout shots this season.
The win improved the Jets record to 30-19-10 and solidified their
hold on the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
Goaltender Viktor Fasth made 42 saves in the loss for the Oilers
(16-32-10)

Flames 4, Bruins 3 (Overtime)
Enhancing their reputation as a comeback team, the Calgary Flames
scored two third-period goals to erase a deficit, then beat the
Boston Bruins on defenseman TJ Brodie's goal with two seconds
remaining in overtime.
With a shootout looking likely, Brodie directed a shot at the net
and watched as the puck bounced off the top of the cage, off Bruins
goaltender Tuukka Rask and in to give Calgary (32-22-3) its
NHL-leading 10th win when trailing after two periods.
The Bruins (28-20-8) lost their fourth straight. Boston has three
games remaining on a five-game western swing that continues
Wednesday in Edmonton.

Hurricanes 6, Senators 3
The Carolina Hurricanes found their way back to the winning track
with a win over the Ottawa Senators.
The Hurricanes, who had lost their previous two games, are now
10-5-3 since the calendar flipped over to 2015.
Scoring for the Hurricanes (20-28-7) were Andrej Nestrasil and Jay
McClement, wingers Nathan Gerbe, Jeff Skinner and Chris Terry and
defenseman Michal Jordan. Nestrasil also added two assists for a
three-point night.
The Senators (22-23-10) lost goalie Robin Lehner and winger Clarke
MacArthur when they collided during McClement's goal in the last
minute of the second period. Neither player returned for the third.

Avalanche 5, Coyotes 2
Matt Duchene and Cody McLeod tied a franchise record with goals nine
seconds apart and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Arizona Coyotes.
Gabriel Landeskog and defensemen Tyson Barrie and Nick Holden also
had goals for the Avalanche. Duchene added an assist for his 300th
career point and right winger Jarome Iginla and defenseman Zach
Redmond had two assists each.
Colorado (20-31-7) dominated throughout and gave goaltender Semyon
Varlamov an easy night. He faced five shots through 40 minutes
before being replaced by Reto Berra to start the third. (Compiled by
