[February 18, 2015]  Feb 17 (The Sports Xchange) - The 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team is getting together for the first in 35 years this weekend.

Every living member of the historic team -- 19 of them -- will converge at Lake Placid, according to USA Today, to celebrate the anniversary of the legendary victory over the powerful Soviet Union.

The Anaheim Ducks will be without defenseman Sami Vatanen for four to six weeks with a lower-body injury and forward Matt Beleskey for two to four weeks because of an upper-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Beleskey is the Ducks' second-leading goal scorer with 21 this season and Vatanen has contributed 34 points.

The Detroit Red Wings recalled right wing Teemu Pulkkinen from Grand Rapids in the AHL and assigned goaltender Petr Mrazek to the Griffins.
 


Pulkkinen, 23, has racked up 57 points in 44 games with the Griffins this season, including 18 points in 11 games with the team since being assigned by Detroit on Jan. 20. He scored his AHL-leading 30th goal of the season on Sunday.

Ottawa is digging deep to find a healthy goalie as their top two goaltenders are out with injuries.

On Tuesday, the Senators recalled Chris Driedger from the East Coast Hockey League.

The Columbus Blue Jackets recalled forward Marko Dano on Tuesday from Springfield of the American Hockey League and activated forward Brian Gibbons from injured reserve and sent him to Springfield.

Gibbons suffered a knee injury during a game against the Washington Capitals on Dec. 18 and has missed 23 games since then.

The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled forward Sam Carrick from the Toronto Marlies.

Carrick, 23, has played in 40 games with the Marlies this season, collecting 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) and 74 penalty minutes.

The San Jose Sharks reassigned defenseman Matt Tennyson to Worcester of the American Hockey league and activated defense Justin Braun from injured reserve.

Braun missed 11 games with a broken bone in his left hand. He was to be paired with defenseman Brenden Dillon during Tuesday night's game against the Nashville Predators.
