[January 03, 2015]  EMDEN - Darlene L. “Dar” Klopp, 88, of Emden, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Timber Creek Nursing Home in Pekin. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home , Lincoln.

Memorial Service: From 3 p..m. to 5 p.m. Monday, January 5, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden.

Graveside Service: 1p.m. on Monday, January 5, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield

Obituary

Darlene L. “Dar” Klopp, 88, of Emden, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Timber Creek Nursing Home in Pekin.

Dar was born on September 15, 1926 in Emden, daughter of David and Leah Greussing Lessen. She was united in marriage to Lowell “Doc” Klopp on September 29, 1946 in Emden. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2014. Survivors include her son: Matthew (Carol) Klopp of Emden; grandchildren: Mindy, Ryan, Noah, and Nathan; great grandchildren: Peyton, Hayden, and Kelsey; and her brother: Harlan (Barb) Lessen of Greenview, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Ruth Struebing and Beverly Richards.

Dar was a housewife and she also ran the Emden News newspaper for many years. Dar was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden and she was very active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Emden Auxiliary Legion Post # 506.

Cremation rites were accorded. A graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with Rev. John Schurter conducting the services. . A memorial service will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home , Lincoln. Memorials may be mailed to the Klopp family to help with expenses at 315 Pearl Street, Emden, IL 62635.
