"The National Hockey League announced today that it has fined the
Philadelphia Flyers' organization for the team's travel to Nashville
on December 26, 2014. This team activity was in violation of Article
16.5(b) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL and
the NHL Players' Association. The League will have no further
comment on the matter," the NHL said in the statement.
Rogers Sportsnet in Toronto reported Saturday that online flight
records showed the Flyers took a flight from Philadelphia to
Nashville the night of Dec. 26. The Flyers played in Nashville on
			Dec. 27, losing 4-1.

Players are barred from traveling or practicing from Dec. 24-26
under the CBA. Part of that agreement was adding the extra day off
over the holidays, which meant that some teams scheduled for games
on Dec. 27 would have game-day travel.

The Edmonton Oilers assigned rookie center Leon Draisaitl to the
			Canadian Hockey League on Sunday.

Draisaitl, 19, appeared in 37 games this season with the Oilers,
recording nine points (two goals, seven assists) and four penalty
minutes. He was the number three overall pick in the 2014 draft.

The Oilers, by sending Draisaitl back to junior prior to his 40th
NHL game, keep him from expending a year toward unrestricted free
			agency.

The San Jose Sharks placed center Joe Thornton on injured reserve on
			Sunday.

Thornton suffered an apparent shoulder injury in Wednesday's win
			over the Anaheim Ducks.

Thursday's game in St. Louis is the soonest Thornton, whose streak
of 319 consecutive games played ended Saturday, can return.
