ATLANTA - The Palms Grill Café in
Atlanta is starting the year out with a bang. They have been awarded the
“Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination” award and will be receiving
their certificate on Friday, January 16th 2015 at 10am at the Café
located at 110 SW Arch Street in the back banquet room. Following the
certificate reception the Palms will be serving their Blue Plate Special
of meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans w/bacon and a cup
of homemade soup. For the Palms daily blue plate specials, Route 66 and
a rich history are just a part of the reason for this delicious
destinations success. Please join us in recognition of their success.

A Brief History: The Grill, as the locals call it, opened in 1934
in the center of downtown Atlanta, Illinois on Route 66. It served
locals and travelers alike, including its most famous customer,
heavyweight boxing champion Max Baer, Sr. The Grill provided a great
spot for a home-cooked meal, BINGO games, and weekly dances. If you
wanted to catch the Greyhound Bus, you just flipped the switch for
the light on the bottom of the Grill’s large neon sign. You can once
again step back into the 1930’s and smell the Blue Plate Special
after it reopened on April 28th, 2009. For more information about
