 Schaefer earned a Master of Science in Recreation Administration
with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation Administration from
George Williams College of Aurora University in Aurora Illinois.
She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), and has
over 17 years of professional experience developing, implementing
and evaluating Therapeutic Recreation Services within the community
and clinic setting.
Schaefer also spend two semesters as an adjunct professor for Aurora
University within the George Williams College instructing students
in the study of TR. She has spoken at the local, state and national
level regarding community based TR services, Inclusion, Disability
Awareness among a variety of other topics.

Within the past 3 years Schaefer has spoken at the University
of Illinois in both the College of Special Education, College of
Applied Health Sciences and the Department of Recreation, Sport
and Tourism. As a guest lecturer, she has covered topics
including ADA Accommodations, ADA facility information, TR in
the community setting, professionalism and diversity.
Schaefer will serve as Executive Director beginning January 12.
