The transition from the LLCDP to the LCEDP began when the former
Lincoln/Logan County Development Partnership, at its November 2014
monthly meeting, officially revised its by-laws and changed its name
to the Logan County Economic Development Partnership. At its final
meeting on December 22, the Lincoln/Logan County Development
Partnership board wrapped up its work by identifying recommendations
regarding strategic areas it wanted to suggest the new Logan County
Development Partnership board focus on in 2015. Those areas
included:
- New Business Creation: Attracting and establishing new
businesses.
- Business Retention/Expansion: Retaining/sustaining existing
businesses and helping them expand.
- Workforce Development: Improving the quality of Logan
County’s workforce in order to meet the needs of area employers.
- Community Capacity Development: Increasing the ability of
individual communities to strengthen & expand their own economic
bases.
Those recommendations are in line with the mission of the new LCEDP.
Per its by-laws the purpose of the LCEDP is to cultivate a business
environment that enhances Logan County by expanding our local and
regional economy through programs that sustain and grow existing
businesses, attract and establish new businesses, and increase
quality employment opportunities. The revised by-laws of the LCEDP
also note that its Board of Directors will include the mayor (or
his/her designee) of each of the incorporated communities in Logan
County. In addition, there will be one person appointed from the
Logan County Board who will represent the unincorporated
communities/areas of the county.

The new LCEDP will serve each community and area in Logan County,
regardless of whether or not it chooses to seat a representative on
the LCEDP Board, and regardless of whether or not it financially
supports the LCEDP. At present, no decisions have been made
regarding the amount of dues that will be established for any of the
communities, businesses, organizations, or individuals in the county
that the LCEDP will serve. As noted in its by-laws, one of the first
tasks of the new LCEDP Board of Directors will be to discuss and
make decisions regarding dues.
Letters explaining the transition from the former Lincoln/Logan
County Development Partnership to the Logan County Economic
Development Partnership were sent to the mayors of the incorporated
communities in Logan County last week. The letters invited them to
attend the first meeting of the new LCEDP that will be held on
Monday, January 26, 2015.
The new Logan County Economic Development Partnership looks forward
to helping improve the overall economic base of our entire county in
the coming year. It will continue efforts begun last year to work
with each community in the county, as well as representing Logan
County in the Economic Development District (EDD) and on the
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) committee of
which it is a member, along with representatives from Peoria,
Tazewell, Woodford, and Mason Counties.
