01/15/2015 MLB Note - Houston Astros Gattis, Evan

UT Evan Gattis and RHP James Hoyt were acquired by the Astros from the Braves in exchange for RHP Mike Foltynewicz, 3B Rio Ruiz and RHP Andrew Thurman on Jan. 14.

Gattis could get most of his action for Houston in left field, but he figures to see time elsewhere. "I think the fact that we're an American League team gives us a lot more flexibility going forward," Astros GM Jeff Luhnow told MLB.com. "There's a possibility he can play some first base, he can DH. We don't know the answer to that at this point. Obviously, we've got a lot of catchers on our roster. We were primarily focused on the offensive side of the equation, and if he produces the way we expect him to he's going to be in the lineup every day."

In 2014, Gattis hit .263/.317/.493 with 22 home runs and 52 RBIs in 108 games, but he was hindered by a back injury over the second half of the season.
