Capitals 1, Flyers 0
In a classic goal-tending battle between unlikely rivals, the
younger but more experienced Washington netminder Braden Holtby
emerged victorious in the Capitals' 1-0 triumph.
Playing in his 26th consecutive game, Holtby stopped all 21 shots he
faced, making left winger Jason Chimera's early goal stand up as the
game-winner against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Verizon Center.
The shutout was Holtby's fourth of the season and 15th of his
career. It was also the first 1-0 victory for the Capitals since
Jan. 11, 2012, when goaltender Tomas Vokoun blanked the Pittsburgh
Penguins.
Chimera scored the lone goal in that game as well.
Holtby's effort overshadowed a strong performance by Flyers
33-year-old rookie netminder Rob Zepp, who turned aside 25-of-26
shots in is third NHL game as he lost for the first time.

Canadiens 3, Blue Jackets 2
Montreal scored three quick power-play goals in the third period,
stunning Columbus in a 3-2 win in Nationwide Arena.
The Blue Jackets led 2-0 midway through the third before the wheels
fell off, thanks to three penalties that were all converted into
goals by the Canadiens.
Left winger Mac Pacioretty scored twice and defenseman P.K. Subban
also netted in the 3:53 span that turned the game on its head.
