Reid, who is also an assistant professor of surgery with Southern
Illinois University School of Medicine, joins Dr. Max Hammer, Dr.
Orlando Icaza Jr. and Dr. Elizabeth Warner, all with Springfield
Clinic. Hammer is the medical director of Memorial Bariatric
Services.
Reid has specialized training in minimally invasive surgery and
bariatric surgery. He is also a member of the Southern Illinois
Trauma Center, which is based at Memorial Medical Center.
He earned his medical degree from the Southern Illinois University
School of Medicine in Springfield.
He completed fellowships in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery
at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina, and in surgical critical care at Yale-New Haven
Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.
Founded in 2002, Memorial Bariatric Services has performed more than
1,000 bariatric surgeries. Three types of laparoscopic, or minimally
invasive, bariatric procedures are offered: roux-en-y gastric
bypass, adjustable gastric banding and vertical sleeve gastrectomy.

Memorial Bariatric Services is accredited by the Metabolic
and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement
Program of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric
Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. To better serve
the entire west-central Illinois region, Memorial Medical Center
partners with Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Advocate Bromenn Medical
Center in Normal and Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Surgical procedures are performed at Memorial Medical Center, and
all pre- and post-operative care is offered at the patient’s home
hospital.
