It was a hard earned win that went into overtime after being tied
at 47 when the buzzer ending regulation sounded. LCU won the OT and
the game by going 13-6, shutting down the CCCB Saints offense and
taking the game 60-53.
After a back-and-forth first half, CCCB had the slight edge of 20-18
going into the locker room at the break. LCU Men's Basketball Head
Coach, Mac Ingmire found just enough motivation for his guys though
to win the second half by a single bucket to force the OT.
In the extended time, the LCU Red Lions defense took control and
held the Saints to a mere 6 points while posting 13. LCU's Michael
Fisher (FR/Lyons, IN) led with 21 points followed by Josiah Gordon
(SO/Springfield, IL) with 16 points. Jimmy Smylie (SO/Springfield,
IL) led with 12 rebounds and Fisher had 9, just missing the first
double-double of his college career. Anthony Rush (JR/Peoria, IL)
had 5 assists and led in steals with 3.
The LCU men are only two games into a nine game run away from home.
The Red Lions won't be home at Gaston arena until February 21. The
next stop on the tour will be Emmaus Bible College of Dubuque, IA,
on Saturday, January 30.
