01/28/2015 MLB Note - Boston Red Sox Ross, Robbie
LHP Robbie Ross Jr. was acquired by the Red Sox from the Rangers on
Jan. 27 in exchange for RHP Anthony Ranaudo. Ross, 25, is expected
to pitch out of the Boston bullpen. He went 3-6 with a 6.20 ERA in
27 games (12 starts) for Texas in 2014. The previous two years,
pitching strictly in relief, Ross went a combined 10-2 with a 2.62
ERA in 123 appearances.

MLB Note - Texas Rangers Ranaudo, Anthony
RHP Anthony Ranaudo, the Red Sox's minor league pitcher of the year
in 2014, was acquired by the Rangers in exchange for LHP Robbie Ross
Jr. on Jan. 27. Ranaudo, 25, went 4-3 with a 4.81 ERA in seven
starts for Boston last season in his first major league action. He
went 14-4 with a 2.61 ERA in 24 starts for Triple-A Pawtucket.

MLB Note - Baltimore Orioles Ohlman, Michael
C Mike Ohlman was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Jan.
27 to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for newly acquired OF Travis
Snider. Ohlman, 24, hit .236/.310/.318 with two homers and 33 RBIs
in 113 games for Double-A Bowie last year.

MLB Note - Pittsburgh Pirates Tarpley, Stephen
LHP Stephen Tarpley and a played to be named were acquired by the
Pirates from the Orioles on Jan. 27 in exchange for OF Travis
Snider. Tarpley, 21, went 3-5 with a 3.66 ERA in 13 games (12
starts) for short-season Class A Aberdeen last season.

MLB Note - Baltimore Orioles Snider, Travis
OF Travis Snider was acquired by the Orioles in a Jan. 27 trade that
sent LHP Stephen Tarpley and a played to be named to the Pirates.
The Orioles need outfield help because Nelson Cruz left for the
Mariners and Nick Markakis departed to sign with the Braves. Snider,
26, hit .264/.338/.438 with 13 homers and 38 RBIs in 140 games last
season for Pittsburgh. The Pirates were willing to let him go
because prospect Gregory Polanco should be ready to take over in
right field.

MLB Note - Los Angeles Dodgers Carson, Robert
LHP Robert Carson, a former New York Met, was suspended for 50 games
Jan. 27 after a second positive test for a drug of abuse. Carson,
26, was with the Mets for portions of the 2012 and 2013 seasons,
posting a 6.82 ERA in 31 appearances. Last year, Carson was in the
minor leagues with the Angels and Dodgers, logging a 3-8 record with
a 5.78 ERA. Carson is on the Triple-A Oklahoma City roster this
year, and he received a non-roster invitation to the Dodgers' big
league spring camp.

MLB Note - Kansas City Royals Dyson, Jarrod
OF Jarrod Dyson and the Royals avoided arbitration, reaching
agreement Jan. 27 on a one-year, $1,225,000 contract. Additional
incentives include $25,000 for 350 plate appearances and $50,000 for
making the All-Star game. The 30-year-old Dyson, projected as the
Royals' fourth outfielder in 2015, is getting a healthy pay boost
from $530,000 last season. He requested $1.6 million in arbitration
for this season and the Royals offered $900,000. In 290 plate
appearances last year for the American League champions, Dyson
batted .269/.324/.327 with one home run, 24 RBIs and 36 stolen
bases.
