Obituary
Jean Martin, 95, of Mount Pulaski, passed away at
7:59 p.m. Sunday January 25, 2015 at Vonderlieth
Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Jean was born on September 30, 1919 in Golden, IL to
Harry John and Margaret Angeline Tholen Wible. She
married Harry S. Martin Jr. on January 25, 1942. He
preceded her in death on January 21, 1996.
She is survived by three sons, Stephen Martin,
Jeffrey (Jean) Martin, Thomas (Cheryl) Martin, and
one daughter, Mary (Tim) Southerlan, all of Mount
Pulaski, seven grandchildren, Douglas (Erin) Martin,
Derek (Renee) Martin, Kari (Justin) Gardner,
Christopher Martin, Abbie (Jim) Mulkins, Ashley
Southerlan and Matthew Southerlan, and six great
grandchildren, Drew, Alec, Luke, Ella, Dean and Reed
Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and
one sister Geri Zimmerman.

Jean was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church
where she was on the Church Council, Mount Pulaski
Historical Society, Mount Pulaski Courthouse
Foundation, 2001 McMurray College Alumni of the
Year, Past President of the Mount Pulaski PTA, board
member of the Mount Pulaski Chamber of Commerce,
Mount Pulaski Pool Foundation, Mount Pulaski
Community Players, Mount Pulaski Community Pride,
Logan County Abraham Lincoln Heritage Foundation,
and Logan County Tourism. She has also served as the
chairman for the Mount Pulaski Fall Festivals where
she was the Grand Marshall of the 1987 parade.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Thursday January 29, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Mount Pulaski with Pastor Barbara Stroud
Both officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00
a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be
at Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski. Memorials
may be made to the Mount Pulaski Courthouse
Foundation, Vonderlieth Living Center Foundation or
St. John’s Lutheran Church. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski is handling
arrangements.
