[January 29, 2015]  LINCOLN - In a surprise turn-around, Bruce Sheen, will not be retiring after all.

Sheen, owner of the now closed First Wok Chinese Restaurant, will be opening a new restaurant in that same location, probably some time in March 2015, according to sources close to the situation.

First Wok was widely known for its consistently excellent Chinese cuisine, along with great service and its congenial hosts, Bruce & Carrie Sheen, who made everyone feel like family.

First Wok had been a family operation for 22 years, with cousins, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives and children participating in the daily operations. Bruce and Carrie Sheen were partners along with his cousin, chef Chi.

All the family members except Bruce and Carrie recently left First Wok to start a new Chinese restaurant in the old Asian Buffet location in the Rent-A-Center plaza. It is not yet known which restaurant, if any, will retain the “First Wok” name. There is no news regarding an opening date for the restaurant in the Asian Buffet location.

Sheen has hired his friend, who will be relocating here from Nebraska, as the new chef. Sources close to the situation are saying that the new chef formerly cooked in a Chinese restaurant in Aspen Colorado, and is expected to arrive around Feb 7th.

Sheen’s new restaurant, still nameless, will be remodeled with new carpeting and wall paper, and all new kitchen equipment.

The result may be that Lincoln will be the host to two Chinese restaurants with excellent food.
