"This is a great day for me," Brodeur said. "I'm excited to start
a new chapter in my hockey career. It's something I've been thinking
about."
The Montreal native set records for wins, shutouts and games played
by a goaltender while playing the first 21 years of a spectacular
22-year career for the New Jersey Devils.
Brodeur, 42, was signed to a one-year contract by the Blues on Dec.
2 after a knee injury to starting goalie Brian Elliott. Brodeur had
been away from the Blues for the past two weeks on a leave of
absence before making public his desire to retire on Tuesday.
"I'm leaving the game with a big smile on my face," said Brodeur.

The American Hockey League announced that it will create a new
Pacific Division for the 2015-16 season, comprised of five NHL
affiliates that will be based in California.
The AHL Board of Governors approved the moves announced by AHL
commissioner David Andrews and the involved NHL franchises.
The Anaheim Ducks will purchase the Norfolk Admirals and move them
from Norfolk, Virginia, to San Diego.
The Calgary Flames' AHL team will relocate from Glens Falls, New
York, to Stockton.
The AHL team owned by the Edmonton Oilers will move from Oklahoma
City to Bakersfield.
The Los Angeles Kings' AHL club will go from Manchester, New
Hampshire, to Ontario, California.
The AHL squad owned by the San Jose Sharks will move from Worcester,
Massachusetts to San Jose.

The Minnesota Wild recalled defenseman Matt Dumba from the Iowa Wild
of the AHL and reassigned defenseman Stu Bickel to Iowa.

The Columbus Blue Jackets activated center Artem Anisimov off
injured reserve.
Anisimov has missed the past 23 games due to a torn triceps muscle.
Anisimov, who missed seven games earlier this season due to an upper
body injury, has recorded two goals and four assists for six points
with four penalty minutes in 16 games.

The San Jose Sharks recalled forward Daniil Tarasov from the
Worcester Sharks of the AHL.
