Mikita, Chicago Blackhawks legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member, has
been diagnosed with dementia, according to his family.

A statement was released by a family spokesman Friday and
confirmed by his daughter, Jane.
Mikita, 74, spent all 22 of his NHL seasons with the Blackhawks, and
is their all-time leader in points (1,467) and games played (1,394),
and second in goals (541). He helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley
Cup in 1961 and won the Art Ross Trophy four times in a five-season
span between 1964 and 1968. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of
Fame in 1983.
Mikita retired after the 1979-80 season, and he and his family
continue to live in the Chicago area.

The Columbus Blue Jackets activated defenseman Ryan Murray, who has
missed the last 36 games due to a knee injury, off injured reserve.
The club also assigned right winger Josh Anderson to the Springfield
Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Murray, 21, who also missed the first seven games of the season due
to offseason knee surgery, has recorded two penalty minutes in four
games this season.

The Boston Bruins assigned goaltender Niklas Svedberg to the
Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League on a conditioning
loan.
The club also recalled goaltender Malcolm Subban from Providence.
Svedberg, 25, has appeared in 12 games for Boston this season,
earning a 5-5-0 record with two shutouts, while posting a 2.22
goals-against average and .922 save percentage.
Subban has played in 22 games for Providence this season and the
21-year-old has posted a 9-10-2 record, 2.47 goals-against average
and a .921 save percentage.

The St. Louis Blues recalled forward Ty Rattie from their American
Hockey League affiliate.

The Winnipeg Jets placed forward Matt Halischuk on injured reserve
and recalled forward T.J. Galiardi from St. John's of the American
Hockey League.
The 26-year-old Halischuk has an undisclosed injury. He has scored
two goals and totaled seven points in 38 games this season for the
Jets.

The Anaheim Ducks reassigned defenseman Colby Robak to the Norfolk
