Carlos Carrasco lost his no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning
as the Cleveland Indians settled for an 8-1 win over the Tampa Bay
Rays at Tropicana Field.
Carrasco, a 28-year-old right-hander from Venezuela, struck out 13
batters and faced the minimum entering the ninth inning.
He was one strike away from history when Rays left fielder Joey
Butler lined an RBI single to right field, just over the glove of
leaping second baseman Jason Kipnis.

Marlins 6, Giants 5
Justin Bour hit a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the
ninth inning to lead the Miami Marlins to a 6-5 win over the San
Francisco Giants.
The Marlins (33-46) overcame five double-play ground balls, which
tied a Giants record for a nine-inning game and also overcame three
errors that led to two unearned runs.
Bour pulled his shot to right field off Giants right-handed reliever
Santiago Casilla (4-2), his first-career walk-off home run and his
eighth homer of the season.

Yankees 3, Angels 1
Nathan Eovaldi threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings and reliever Chasen
Shreve got two big outs to help the New York Yankees avoid a
three-game sweep with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Third baseman Chase Headley (3-for-5) and shortstop Didi Gregorius
(2-for-4) each had an RBI single and left fielder Garrett Jones hit
a solo homer to account for the Yankees' scoring.

Reds 2, Twins 1
Minnesota's Trevor May and Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto turned in an
old-fashioned pitchers' duel in a game decided by a throwing error.
The Reds (36-41) squeezed out the win over the Twins (41-37) as
Cueto, a 20-game winner last season, allowed four hits and one run
with one walk and eight strikeouts over eight innings.

Blue Jays 11, Red Sox 2
Justin Smoak hit home runs from each side of the plate and Mark
Buehrle pitched seven strong innings as the Toronto Blue Jays
defeated the Boston Red Sox 11-2.
Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Bautista and Josh Donaldson also homered for
the Blue Jays on Canada Day, snapping Boston's three-game winning
streak.

Mariners 7, Padres 0
Robinson Cano drove in three runs with a homer, a bases-loaded
single and a double, and Taijuan Walker picked up his fifth straight
win as the Seattle Mariners right-hander and four relievers combined
on a three-hit, 7-0 win over the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
Right fielder Nelson Cruz drove in the Mariners' final two runs with
a two-run homer to cap a four-run ninth inning.

A's 4, Rockies 1
Oakland A's right-hander Jesse Hahn pitched six innings and Billy
Butler and Billy Burns gave him all the offensive support he needed
in a 4-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Hahn (6-6) gave up one run and four hits and posted his fourth win
in his past five decisions. He struck out six and walked two.
Butler went 2-for-3 with his fifth career triple, drove in a run,
scored once and walked, while Burns went 2-for-4 with a triple and a
double, scored two runs and walked once.

Orioles 4, Rangers 2
J.J. Hardy hit a go-ahead two-run home run, Jimmy Paredes homered
and drove in two runs, and the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Texas
Rangers 4-2.
Baltimore left-hander Chen Wei-yin (4-4) allowed two runs on four
hits over eight efficient innings, allowing the Orioles to overcome
an early two-run deficit.

Brewers 9, Phillies 5
The Milwaukee Brewers continued to have their way at Citizens Bank
Park, cruising past the Philadelphia Phillies 9-5.

The Brewers (32-48) have won the first three games of a four-game
series in Philadelphia en route to a season-best four-game winning
streak while the Phillies (27-53) continue to sink and are a
season-worst 26 games below .500.
With the defeat, Aaron Harang (4-11) became the first Phillies
pitcher to lose eight consecutive starts since Jim Nash in 1972 as
the Brewers scored eight runs on 14 hits against him.

Pirates 9, Tigers 3
Veteran A.J. Burnett pitched seven-hit ball over seven innings and
Neil Walker hit a pair of home runs good for three runs in leading
the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 9-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Tigers right-hander Joba Chamberlain gave up three solo home runs in
the eighth.

Cubs 2, Mets 0 (11 innings)
Shortstop Starlin Castro's two-out infield single in the 11th inning
finally snapped a scoreless tie and lifted the Chicago Cubs to a 2-0
win over the New York Mets.
The Cubs (41-35) have scored two runs or fewer in seven straight
games and the Mets (40-39) have scored two runs or fewer in 11 of
their last 13, a stretch in which they are 4-9.
The two teams combined to strand 11 runners in scoring position in
the first nine innings.

White Sox 7, Cardinals 1
Melky Cabrera's solo homer in the top of the sixth inning snapped a
tie as the Chicago White Sox became the first visiting team to sweep
a series in Busch Stadium this year with a 7-1 decision against the
St. Louis Cardinals.
Cabrera's third homer of the year helped make a winner of starter
Jose Quintana (4-7), who gave up six hits and a run over six innings
with no walks and eight strikeouts.

Dodgers 4, Diamondbacks 3
Enrique Hernandez had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run,
and Brett Anderson won his third consecutive start, as the Los
Angeles Dodgers edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3.
Hernandez tripled and scored in the first inning, then doubled home
a run and scored in a three-run third inning to give Anderson (5-4)
a 4-0 lead.

Astros 6, Royals 5
Jose Altuve scored the go-ahead run to cap a seventh-inning rally,
and the Houston Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5.
Without the benefit of a hit, the Astros pushed in front in the
seventh, manufacturing a run after Altuve reached base to open the
frame when he was hit on the right forearm.
The second baseman stole second base, his 23rd steal on the season,
and advanced to third on a ricochet groundout before Astros
designated hitter Chris Carter followed with a ground ball to third
baseman Mike Moustakas that scored Altuve ahead of the tag from
catcher Salvador Perez.

Braves 4, Nationals 1
Rookie starter Matt Wisler allowed one hit through five and a third
scoreless innings, and catcher A.J. Pierzynski and third baseman
Juan Uribe hit consecutive home runs, as the Braves snapped a
nine-game losing streak to the Washington Nationals with a 4-1
victory.
The homers came in a four-run fourth inning against veteran
right-hander Doug Fister, who blanked the Braves (37-41) on four
hits over seven innings at Washington last week.
The loss was just the second in 11 games for the Nationals (43-35).
They remain three and a half games ahead of the New York Mets in the
