Obituary
William D. Skaggs, 72, of Lincoln passed away at his
home at 5:03 p.m. June 27, 2015.
Bill was born June 20, 1943 in Petersburg, IL the
son of Frederick W. and Lucille Pollard Skaggs. He
married Waltraud Roderer and later divorced. He then
married Cathy Houchin and later divorced.
Bill is survived by three sons: Tom (Susan) Skaggs
of Petersburg; Eric (Jenny) Skaggs of Athens; Jeff
(Shelly) Skaggs of Lincoln; four sisters: Mildred
Hinds of Petersburg; Ruth Duncheon of Oakford; Sandy
Johnson of Oakford, Judy
(John) Thomas of Mason City; and Katie Skaggs of
California; one brother: John (Jeanne) Weaver of
Petersburg; one sister-in-law: Barb Skaggs of
Petersburg; Grandchildren: Ashley (Scott) Coil;
Amber (Dennis) Skaggs; Thomas J. Skaggs; Abby (Josh) Warrner; AnnaMarie Skaggs; Ty Skaggs; Emily Herman;
Noah Herman; Sayre Skaggs; Josh Hartman; Great
Grandchildren: Trent, Ada, and Spencer Coil; several
nieces and nephews and his loyal companion, Nathan,
his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents;
sister, Norma (Harold) Justice; twin brother,
Willard Skaggs; brother, Thomas Skaggs;
brothers-in-law, Jim Hinds and Richard Duncheon and
great grandchild, Lyla Sue Warrner. |
He was a plant operator at Material Service Rock
Quarry. He proudly served his country in the U.S.
Army from 1962-1968 and he was very proud of his
service on the flame thrower of the Zippo Reb.
Cremation rites were accorded.

American Legion Post #263 at the flag pole at New
Union Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane
Society of Logan County or to the Vietnam Memorial.
Services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home, Lincoln.
