On Thursday, Friendship Manor on Primm Road in Lincoln hosted a special mid-day meal for staff and residents in celebration of the upcoming 4th of July.

The picnic style lunch was served inside in the comfortable and large dining area at the manor.

Residents, staff and guests enjoyed a great meal that included many of the traditional food offerings most often associated with a cookout on the 4th.

While there, Larry Martin was happy to show off a patriotic quilt that was made by members of the Friendship Manor Quilters Group. In the background of the picture is a wide variety of similar products also made by the group.

One of the most important works of the group is to supplying baby blankets to newborns at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The group enjoys making the special blankets, and knowing that every newborn has a handmade gift to comfort them as they leave the hospital to go home.

The group also offers items for sale. The proceeds from their sales are used to purchase more materials so they may continue on with their favorite past-time.
