LINCOLN
- On November 22, 1961 Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital opened the
doors to the Pink Shutter Thrift Shop in a house on Pulaski Street in
Lincoln. At the time, it was created to help purchase needed equipment
for the new hospital. Now the Pink Shutter Thrift Shop is located in
historic downtown Lincoln at 114 N. McLean Street. And while it may be
its fourth location since the house on Pulaski Street, the mission
remains the same. All proceeds benefit programs of the ALMH Auxiliary.

The Pink Shutter temporarily closed on Friday, July 3rd. After being
in its current location for over 14 years, it has big plans to
reopen better than ever on Saturday, August 1. The planned
renovations will provide customers a brand new thrift shopping
experience. The new look will include paint and carpeting throughout
the 4100 square foot retail store. A grand reopening and ribbon
cutting is planned for 11:30am on Monday, August 10.
“We can’t wait to show off our new space,” said Jennifer Heidbreder.
Heidbreder is the sole full-time employee at the Pink Shutter. All
other staff are volunteers and ALMH Auxiliary members. “Our
volunteers work very hard to maintain a store that is clean and easy
to navigate. These improvements are part of our commitment to
providing a quality shopping experience.”
