Obituary
Jane Ellen (Osterbur) Mikelson of Hartsburg, went to
her Heavenly Home on July 10, 2015 at 7:09 p.m. at
the age of 63 years. Jane was born on April 18,
1952, to Rev. Ehme & Ella (Bruns) Osterbur, in
Dubuque, IA. She was married to Thomas Mikelson on
August 12, 1972. They would be celebrating 43 years
of marriage this year. Jane was preceded in death by
her father Rev. Ehme Renkin Osterbur. She is
survived by her husband, Tom; her son Todd (Heather)
Mikelson of Danforth, her 3 granchildren; Jenna,
Kyle and Ella Kate, her daughter; Amy (Jason) Wubben
of Hartsburg, her mother; Ella (Bruns) Osterbur of
Royal, her 3 brothers; Dave (Kim) Osterbur of
Arlington, MA, Jon Osterbur of St. Cloud, FL and Dan
(Diane) Osterbur of Warba, MN.
Jane was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran
Church in Emden, where she served as an organist,
junior/senior choir director, Praise Choir director
and was on the Worship Committee. She kept busy with
sporting events, keeping score for many coaches
through the years, as well as with music, having
been involved with Lincoln Community Theater, The
Maple Club and playing for many high school musicals
and Christmas cantatas.

Jane was known through her work at Bartmans Nursing
Home, The Oasis Senior Citizens Center,
Hartsburg-Emden School, Harvard Park Elementary and
Carl Sandburg Elementary. Jane was an amazing wife,
mother, daughter, sister and friend. She will most
be remembered for her love of music and her ability
to love people of all ages and circumstances. Though
she will be greatly missed, we rejoice knowing, that
because of her relationship with Jesus Christ, she
now rests in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
A visitation for Jane will be held on Monday July
13, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran
Church in Emden. A Celebration of Life service will
be held on Tuesday July 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden, with Tim
Searby and Rev. John Schurter officiating. Memorials
may be made to South Pointe Youth for Christ (SPYFC)
or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Services are entrusted with Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
