"Re-signing Marc Gasol was the No. 1 priority for our organization
this offseason," General Manager Chris Wallace said. "For many
years, Marc has been a pillar of our franchise and in a Memphis
community that has watched him become one of the best basketball
players in the world, so this is a great day for our team, our city
and our fans."
Last season, Gasol averaged a career-high 17.4 points on 49.4
percent shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.62 blocks in 81
games (all starts).
Gasol was the only player in the league with at least 1,300 points,
600 rebounds and 300 assists.

The Oklahoma City Thunder retained center Enes Kanter on Sunday,
matching the Portland Trail Blazers' four-year, $70 million offer
sheet for the restricted free agent center.
The fourth year is at the player's option, multiple media outlets
reported.
Kanter, the No. 3 overall pick in 2011, produced per-game averages
of 18.7 points and 11 rebounds last season after being traded in
February from the Utah Jazz.

Free agent center/power forward Andrea Bargnani has signed a deal
with the Brooklyn Nets.
The former New York Knicks big man turned down more money from the
Sacramento Kings to sign with the Nets, multiple media outlets
reported.
According to the New York Post, the Nets gave Bargnani the veteran's
minimum ($1.4 million) for the upcoming season, and the contract
includes a player option for a second season.
Bargnani, 29, missed most of the past season due to calf and
hamstring injuries, playing just 29 games (22 starts). He averaged
14.8 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Denver signed point guard Jameer Nelson to a three-year deal with
$13.5 million.
Signing Nelson, an unrestricted free agent, was a priority for the
Nuggets, who had traded for the veteran midway through last season.
In 34 games with the Nuggets, the 33-year-old averaged 9.6 points
and 3.7 assists while shooting 45 percent from the field.
Nelson's signing might signal the Nuggets' desire and need to trade
Ty Lawson, last year's starting point guard.
