Marcia Ann Lane was born on November 19, 1936, in
Bloomington, the daughter of Alfred V. and Esther M.
Alwes Lane. She married Kenneth Ford and together
they had five children. She later married Theodore
"Ted" Long on June 4, 1977.
Marcia is survived by her children: Janet (Tim)
Clucas, Steve (Sheila) Ford, Debora (Chuck) Van
Hoorn and Carol Ford; five grandchildren: Chad Hays,
Renee (John) Goddard, Rebecca (Joel) Pabst, Jacob
(Briana) Van Hoorn, and Rachel Ford; two
great-grandchildren: Stella and Gabriel Pabst; one
brother: Richard (Jan) Lane of Lincoln and one
sister: Chris (Dale) Colaw of Atlanta; three
step-children; six step-grandchildren; and four
step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband Ted
on January 28, 2015 and one son, David Alan Ford. |
Marcia was retired from the Dixie Truckers Home where she had
worked as the Control Center Manager. She was a member of the
McLean United Methodist Church.
She was a lover of God's creations and you would often find her
tending her garden. She found great joy in her friends and
family. She and Ted had a unique love, and her heart could only
last four months to the day without him.
With four young children in tow, she still managed to volunteer
as leader of 4-H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTA and as a room
mother for all. She sacrificed her ears but rejoiced in her
heart, as all her children played many musical instruments and
mastered a few.
The value Marcia placed on education and use of your God given
talents was demonstrated to her entire family.
Marcia's selfless life can be summed up in two words: She Loved.
Memorials may be made to McLean United Methodist Church or
Hopedale Medical Complex Nursing Home.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home of Atlanta.
