[June 03, 2015]  June 2 (The Sports Xchange) - Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper continues to be the top vote-getter in National League All-Star balloting.

Harper, who is tied for the major league lead in home runs with 18, has received 2,323,186 votes. He is followed in the outfield by the St. Louis Cardinals' Matt Holliday (1,654,428) and the Miami Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton (1,210,108).

The San Francisco Giants' Buster Posey (1,679,730) moved past the Cardinals' Yadier Molina (1,542,231) as the leader at catcher.

Other position leaders are Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta (1,279,711), Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (1,974,503), Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon (1,531,048), and Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez (1,380,696).

The All-Star Game will be played July 14 in Cincinnati.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Scott Van Slyke was placed on the disabled list with a back injury.

He was replaced on the roster by veteran Chris Heisey. The Dodgers already are without injured outfielders Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig.

In 34 games this season, Van Slyke is batting .264 with two home runs and 14 RBIs.

Left-hander Ian Thomas was recalled from Oklahoma City to be the 26th man on the roster for Tuesday's doubleheader.

Kevin Slowey is moving from the mound to an office job, accepting a position as a special assistant to Major League Baseball Players Association director Tony Clark.

The 31-year-old Slowey spent seven years in the major leagues as a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins. The right-hander went to spring training with the Philadelphia Phillies this year as a non-roster invitee on a minor league contract but was released in late March.

The Detroit Tigers purchased the contracts of infielder Josh Wilson and outfielder Daniel Fields from Triple-A Toledo, optioned right-hander Buck Farmer to Toledo and placed outfielder Rajai Davis on the paternity list. Davis is expected to rejoin the Tigers on Friday, according to GM Dave Dombrowski.

The Toronto Blue Jays sent catcher Josh Thole to Triple-A Buffalo and activated catcher Dioner Navarro, who was sent to Buffalo for a rehab assignment on May 26. Navarro had gone on the disabled list April 23 with a strained left hamstring.

The Miami Marlins called up right-hander Kendry Flores from Double-A Jacksonville. He replaces deposed closer Steve Cishek on the roster. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
