Sonny Gray tossed eight shutout innings and Billy Burns smacked a
three-run triple as the Oakland A's handed the Detroit Tigers their
sixth consecutive loss.
The A's ace allowed just two hits and Burns had three RBIs.
Detroit fell to 28-26.

Red Sox 6, Twins 3 (doubleheader opener)
David Ortiz hit a pair of doubles and snapped a five-game stretch
without an RBI as the Boston Red Sox earned a win over the Minnesota
Twins in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.
Four Red Sox batters had a multi-hit game, with shortstop Xander
Bogaerts (3-for-4) driving in two runs and Dustin Pedroia (4-for-5)
and Hanley Ramirez (2-for-4) each bringing a run home.

Twins 2, Red Sox 0 (second game)
Trevor May turned in the best start of his career, tying a season
high with nine strikeouts and holding the Boston Red Sox to two hits
in seven innings to power the Minnesota Twins to a win in the second
game of a doubleheader.
Catcher Chris Hermann went 1-for-3 and drove in a run and shortstop
Danny Santana's safety squeeze brought home a run for the Twins
(31-21), who had five hits.
Boston fell to 24-30.

Cardinals 7, Brewers 4
Scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning, St. Louis
posted a win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cardinals (35-18) jumped all over Jimmy Nelson (2-6) in the
first and Matt Carpenter added a two-run RBI against him in the
fourth.

Yankees 3, Mariners 1
Masahiro Tanaka, working his way back from right wrist tendinitis
and a strained forearm, threw just 78 pitches in seven innings and
struck out nine batters to lead the New York Yankees past Seattle.
Tanaka (3-1) was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 29 and got
help in his comeback by Mark Teixeira and Garrett Jones, who both
homered for the Yankees (29-25).
Seattle fell to 24-29.

Pirates 5, Giants 2
Left-hander Francisco Liriano limited the San Francisco Giants to
one run in seven innings and shortstop Jordy Mercer homered for the
second day in a row, helping the Pittsburgh Pirates complete a
three-game sweep of the defending World Series champions.
Kang Jung-ho had a pinch-hit two-RBI double in the ninth inning for
the Pirates (29-24), who scored twice in the final inning to put
away the Giants (30-25).

Diamondbacks 9, Braves 8
Arizona third baseman Yasmany Tomas had three hits and an RBI and
A.J. Pollock homered to help the Diamondbacks overcome a six-run
deficit in a victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Arizona (25-27) trailed 6-0 by the top of the second inning but
fought back to turn the tide.

Blue Jays 8, Nationals 0
Starter Mark Buehrle threw a six-hit shutout and shortstop Jose
Reyes had three hits and drove in two runs as the Toronto Blue Jays,
who scored four runs in the first, beat the Washington Nationals.
Toronto (25-30) took two of three games in the series and won a road
game for just the third time in 12 outings.
Washington (29-24), with five losses in six games, have now lost two
series in a row after capturing their previous nine.

Marlins 7, Cubs 3
Giancarlo Stanton and Jeff Baker hit back-to-back homers as the
Miami Marlins defeated the Chicago Cubs in a game that featured a
benches-clearing confrontation.
The fireworks started in the fifth, when Junior Lake drilled a
two-run homer to left and as he rounded third, he looked toward the
Marlins dugout and gestured for them to "shush."

That infuriated Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, who is on the
disabled list due to elbow surgery yet leaped over a fence and ran
onto the field to confront Lake.
Miami (22-32) held on from there to take two out of three games from
Chicago (27-24).

Padres 7, Mets 3
Right-hander James Shields pitched seven strong innings, and third
baseman Will Middlebrooks drove in three runs as the San Diego
Padres beat the New York Mets.
Shields (7-0) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while
striking out four.
Outfielders Will Venable, Justin Upton and Matt Kemp had two hits
apiece in the Padres' second straight win over the Mets, who lost
for the fourth time in six games.
San Diego completed a seven-game homestand with a 4-3 record.

White Sox 9, Rangers 2
White Sox left-hander Chris Sale settled into a groove and struck
out 13 in seven shutout innings, leading Chicago to a romp over the
Texas Rangers.
Sale (5-2) posted his 22nd career game with double-figure
strikeouts, extending his franchise record. He fanned at least 10
for the third game in a row, a career high.
Chicago (24-27) rebounded from a 15-2 drubbing in the series opener
on Tuesday.

Royals 4, Indians 2
Cleveland's Corey Kluber continues to have his problems with the
Royals, who got the better of him again in a 4-2 win.
Kluber, the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, is 0-3
against Kansas City, who improved to 30-20.

Rays 6, Angels 5 (10 innings)
Center fielder Kevin Kiermaier led off the 10th inning with a home
run off Los Angeles Angels closer Huston Street to lift the Tampa
Bay Rays to a 6-5 win.
The Rays (26-26) scored all six runs on homers, rallying from a 4-0
deficit to take two of three in the series.
Designated hitter Joey Butler hit a two-run homer, and right fielder
Steven Souza Jr. hit a three-run shot.
Los Angeles are 28-26.

Astros 3, Orioles 1
Rookie right-hander Lance McCullers delivered the strongest start of
his brief career, recording 11 strikeouts while tossing a complete
game in the Houston Astros' 3-1 win over Baltimore.
The Astros (34-20) supported McCullers with a trio of solo home runs
off Orioles right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (5-4) en route to claiming
their four-game series.

Rockies 7, Dodgers 6
The Colorado Rockies rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to
beat the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Third baseman Nolan Arenado hit a sacrifice fly that gave the
Rockies a walk-off win.
Troy Tulowitzki had five RBIs for the Rockies while the Dodgers fell
