The game was decided quickly as Lincoln Heat 10U exerted its
will early with 11 runs in the first three innings.
A sacrifice fly by Bricen Gillum in the first inning and an RBI
single by Wyatt Mammen, an RBI single by Landen Heinzel, an RBI
single by Jaden Leadley, a two-run single by Andy Knox, an RBI
single by Trey Schilling, and an RBI single by Darren Stevens
during the second inning supplied the early offense for Lincoln
Heat 10U.
Gillum racked up three RBIs on three hits for Lincoln Heat 10U.
Trey Schilling baffled Morton, striking out seven batters,
allowed no earned runs on four hits and one walk over five
innings.
Lincoln Heat 10U easily handled Morton pitching as six hitters
combined for 16 hits, nine RBIs and 13 runs scored.
In the second game, Lincoln Heat 10U led by five runs in the
fifth inning, but Morton put together a furious comeback to
steal the victory, 9-8, on Thursday.
The top of the first saw Lincoln Heat 10U take an early lead,
2-0. Michael Lucas started the rally for Lincoln Heat 10U with a
single while Trey Schilling doubled, scoring Darren Stevens and
Lucas.
Morton put up one run in each of the first, second and fourth.
Lincoln Heat 10U got two-run boosts in each of the second, third
and fourth. In the second, Lincoln Heat 10U scored on an RBI
triple by Jaden Leadley, scoring Brenden Wurth.
Morton didn't relinquish the lead after scoring six runs in the
fifth inning when it scored on two singles and a three-run
triple.
Lincoln Heat 10U is now off for the weekend and resumes play
next Wednesday as Dee-Mack travels to Lincoln for the
double-header scheduled to start at 6:00pm at the Lincoln Rec
Center.
