[June 09, 2015]  June 8 (The Sports Xchange) - The Philadelphia Phillies signed veteran right-hander Kevin Correia on Monday and announced he will start Friday in Pittsburgh.

Correia, 34, posted a 3.58 ERA in six starts for San Francisco's Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento before opting out of his deal with the Giants.

San Diego Padres right-hander Brandon Morrow returned to San Diego for an MRI on Monday after he experienced discomfort during his second rehab outing with Double-A San Antonio on Sunday.

He was 2-0 with a 2.73 ERA before going on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.

Shortstop Carlos Correa was added to the Houston Astros' roster Monday for the series opener against the Chicago White Sox.

Correa will be the youngest player in baseball at 20. He is ranked the top prospect in baseball by ESPN's Keith Law and is rated the No. 2 prospect by MLB.com.

Seven Kansas City Royals players are in line to be starters at this year's All-Star Game based on the third update of American League voting numbers released on Monday.

The players currently leading their respective positions in the voting are catcher Salvador Perez, outfielder Lorenzo Cain, third baseman Mike Moustakas, shortstop Alcides Escobar, first baseman Eric Hosmer and designated hitter Kendrys Morales.

The fan who was hit in the head by a broken bat at Fenway Park last week has been upgraded to fair condition.

The woman, who was seated in the box seats, was struck on the head by the broken bat of Oakland third baseman Brett Lawrie in the second inning Friday. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
