NFL Note - * Free Agents Pontius, Taylor
K Taylor Pontius was waived by the Colts Wednesday (June 10).
Pontius had signed with the Colts on May 20 as an undrafted free
agent out of North Alabama. In 2014, he converted 11 of 14
field-goal attempts.

NFL Note - Miami Dolphins Mosley, C.J.
DT C.J. Mosley, who became an unrestricted free agent from the Lions
in March and wasn't tendered on May 12, agreed to terms on a
one-year contract with the Dolphins Wednesday (June 10).
The 31-year-old Mosley played 31 games for the Lions over the last
two seasons. The Lions tried to re-sign Mosley after losing
Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley as free agents.
The 6-foot-2, 310-pound Mosley will be reunited with Suh, giving the
Dolphins a deep defensive interior.
"He had a great visit, and the Dolphins made clear they would love
to add him as soon as possible," his agent, Harold Lewis, told the
Miami Herald.
Mosley had 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games
(eight starts) for the Lions last year -- his 10th season in the
NFL. He was suspended for two weeks last season after marijuana was
found in his room during the team's trip to London for a game.
Mosley also has played for Jacksonville (2010-12), Cleveland (2009),
the New York Jets (2006-08) and Minnesota (2005). He has 187 tackles
and 14 sacks in his career.

NFL Note - New England Patriots Butler, Malcolm
CB Malcolm Butler may have been the hero of the New England
Patriots' Super Bowl victory, but that does not make him immune to
discipline when he fails to meet his responsibilities.
Butler missed a flight to Boston because of weather issues and was
late for the first practice of organized team activities (OTAs) on
May 26. As a result he was held off the practice field for three
weeks, the Boston Herald reported.
Butler had planned to be in Boston the day before OTAs began, but
weather problems made that impossible. He also contacted team
officials to let them know he would be late.
Butler had been absent during two recent open workouts, and it was
unknown why he was not present until this information surfaced.
He is expected to be back on the field for Thursday's workout.
Butler intercepted a pass by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell
Wilson at the goal-line with 20 seconds remaining to preserve the
Patriots' 28-24 victory in the Super Bowl.

NFL Note - Cleveland Browns Manziel, Johnny
QB Johnny Manziel, who has taken steps to clean up his life this
offseason, is living with a former high school coach in Cleveland,
Browns teammate Joe Haden told ESPN on Wednesday.
Manziel, who spent 10 weeks in a rehab center earlier this year, is
living with Julius Scott, who was Manziel's offensive coordinator
and mentor at Kerrville Tivy High School in Kerrville, Tex.
Scott reportedly was the disciplinarian for Manziel and his high
school team. A year ago, Manziel said Scott "had the single biggest
impact on my development as a player" and "molded me into the player
I am today."
Manziel won the Heisman Trophy at Texas A&M in 2012 and was
Cleveland's first-round draft pick last year. But his off-field
behavior led to a lot of criticism, and he decided to work on his
personal issues this year.
"He's doing all the right steps," Haden told ESPN.
Manziel is working as Cleveland's No. 2 quarterback behind veteran
Josh McCown.

NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Hill, Sammie
NT Sammie Lee Hill, who has been out with a sprained ACL since May
26, won't take part in minicamp next week. Both Hill and the Titans
are optimistic that the veteran will be ready to roll when training
camp opens in late July.

NFL Note - Green Bay Packers Nelson, Jordy
WR Jordy Nelson took to the field and participated on a limited
basis in the Packers' OTA Wednesday (June 10).
"We're right where we want to be," Nelson said afterward.
The eight-year pro is completing his rehab work after having hip
surgery early in the offseason. He hasn't been cleared for team
drills with Green Bay's mandatory minicamp on the horizon June
16-18, but head coach Mike McCarthy expects Nelson to be ready for
the start of training camp in late July.
"We set a plan at the beginning, and we're hitting every target,"
Nelson said. "We'll be ready to go by training camp."
Even before he jumped in for position drills this week for the final
three days of the three-week OTA sessions, Nelson has been
noticeably involved on the practice field. He took on a persona of a
coach on the sideline, not holding back from talking to and giving
pointers to the young receivers on the club.
"The amount of work he's put into his rehab (the last few months),
he's been on time the whole time," McCarthy said. "This is all part
of the plan - how he's being handled these (last) couple weeks (in
the OTAs) and how he'll be handled next week."
