[June 12, 2015]  June 11 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Thursday's Major League baseball games:

Angels 6, Rays 2

The Los Angeles Angels gave up two hits in the final seven innings and got home runs from Mike Trout and Albert Pujols on the way to a win.

The Angels (30-30), who had trailed the Rays 2-0 in the sixth, got five runs off the bullpen of the Rays (32-29), who had gotten four scoreless innings from relievers the night before.

Los Angeles got seven solid innings from starter Garrett Richards whose only real mistake was a two-run home run to outfielder Steven Souza in the second.

Pujols' homer was career No. 537, moving him past Mickey Mantle into 16th on baseball's all-time list.

Mets 5, Giants 4

Left fielder Michael Cuddyer's RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning lifted the New York Mets to a win over the San Francisco Giants.

The Mets (32-29) salvaged the finale of the three-game series to ensure they remain no more than a half-game back of the first-place Washington Nationals in the NL East. The Giants (34-27) missed a chance to move within a half-game of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.

Athletics 7, Rangers 0

Scott Kazmir threw eight shutout innings, right fielder Josh Reddick hit a three-run homer and first baseman Mark Canha ripped a two-run shot, leading the Oakland A's to a victory against the Texas Rangers.

Kazmir (3-4) allowed just one hit, snapping his four-game losing streak and winning for the first time since April 13 at Houston.

Oakland (25-37) dropped Texas to 31-27.

Padres 6, Braves 4 (11 innings)

Third baseman Yangervis Solarte delivered a two-run single off Atlanta's eighth pitcher and the Padres defeated the Braves.

San Diego, down 4-1 going to the eighth, had three hits and a walk against Brandon Cunniff in the 11th to even their record at 31-31 with a 4-3 road trip.

The Braves (29-31) ended up using four relievers in the inning, with the runs scoring on a passed ball, bases-loaded walk and the catcher's interference on Christian Bethancourt.

Orioles 6, Red Sox 5

Adam Jones, Nolan Reimold and Manny Machado each hit solo homers to help the Baltimore Orioles complete a three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox.

The Orioles (29-30) have won four straight games and six of their last seven. Boston (27-34) has lost these three and slipped to a season-worst seven games under. 500.

Marlins 6, Rockies 0

Right fielder Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run homer that traveled 385 feet and an RBI single that went about 40, leading the Miami Marlins to a win over the Colorado Rockies.

Stanton leads the Majors with 22 homers and 55 RBIs and Miami (25-36) snapped a three-game losing streak.

Colorado (27-32) is 5-5 in its past 10 games.

Brewers 6, Nationals 5

Scooter Gennett broke a tie game with an RBI double in the eighth innings and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 13th save of the season as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied for a victory over the Washington Nationals.

Right-hander Matt Garza struck out seven in a six-inning start. He gave up eight hits and allowed five runs but only two of them earned thanks to a sloppy effort by the Brewers' defense, which committed three errors.

Cubs 6, Reds 3

Miguel Montero went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, and Dexter Fowler added a solo shot as the Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds.

Right-hander Michael Lorenzen (1-2) took his second consecutive loss as the Reds saw a four-game winning streak end.

The victory was the fourth in five games for the Cubs (32-26).

Indians 6, Mariners 0

Shaun Marcum allowed just two hits in seven scoreless innings and Giovanny Urshela hit his first Major League home run as the Cleveland Indians beat the Seattle Mariners.

The right-hander Marcum (3-1) retired 18 of the 21 batters he faced. He retired the first nine before hitting first baseman Logan Morrison with a pitch leading off the fourth inning. (Editing by Sudipto Ganguly)
