Martin's triple to deep center field highlighted an inning when the
Blue Jays scored all their runs before an out was recorded. Toronto
sent 12 batters to the plate and had nine hits in the inning against
three Boston relievers, including two who did not get an out.
The meltdown sent the Red Sox to their fourth straight loss and they
fell a season-high eight games under .500.
Cardinals 4, Royals 0
ST. LOUIS -- This round of the I-70 Series went to St. Louis. More
accurately, it went to Jaime Garcia.
The Cardinals' starter tossed eight shutout innings in his longest
outing since 2013 and even chipped in an RBI hit while giving up
only four hits, all infield singles.
Lowering his earned-run average to 2.06, Garcia also stretched his
streak of not allowing a walk to 30 innings, dating back to a 5-0
loss on May 21 at the New York Mets.
Astros 10, Mariners 0
HOUSTON -- Brett Oberholtzer worked eight scoreless innings and was
the beneficiary of an eight-run first inning as Houston snapped a
seven-game losing streak.
The Astros jumped on Mariners ace Felix Hernandez en route to
bashing four home runs.
Oberholtzer didn't waste the run support, limiting the Mariners to
three hits and two walks while striking out five.
Rangers 6, Twins 2
ARLINGTON, Texas -- A two-base error by center fielder Aaron Hicks
allowed two Texas to sail past the Twins.
Mitch Moreland lined the first pitch he saw from Brian Duensing to
center field and off Hicks' glove, snapping a 2-2 tie with two outs.
Duensing intentionally walked Texas designated hitter Prince Fielder
to get to Moreland with the bases loaded.
Texas Elvis Andrus, who hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the
seventh, added some insurance with a two-run single off Duensing.
Tigers 4, Indians 0
DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera hit a monster three-run home run and added
an RBI double while David Price powered through Cleveland's lineup
for a seven-hit shutout.
Price threw nothing but strikes to the first five batters he faced
and got help from four double plays in his walk-free,
eight-strikeout complete game. He threw just 93 pitches, getting 67
strikes as Detroit won for the fourth time in five games following
an eight-game losing streak.
Danny Salazar nearly matched Price, allowing seven hits while
walking one and fanning six in seven innings.
Orioles 11, Yankees 3
BALTIMORE -- Chris Davis slammed a three-run homer and drove in four
runs as Baltimore extended its season-best winning streak to five
games.
Davis' home run was his 12th of the season.
Davis, Jimmy Paredes and Caleb Joseph each had three hits and Joseph
swatted his fifth homer of the year.
Marlins 5, Rockies 1
MIAMI -- Rookie Jose Urena earned his first big-league win, leading
Miami past Colorado.
The Marlins hit two homers, including a three-run blast by rookie
J.T. Realmuto in the eighth inning.
Urena pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing six hits, no walks and one
run. The only blemish was a seventh-inning home run by Carlos
Gonzalez.
Mets 5, Braves 3
NEW YORK -- Wilmer Flores and John Mayberry homered and Bartolo
Colon threw six solid innings as New York beat Atlanta.
The Mets won their second in a row to ensure they'd remain at least
a half-game ahead of the Washington Nationals in the NL East. The
Braves fell to 4-7 this month.
Colon allowed two runs on six hits and two walks (both intentional)
while striking out three. He earned a decision in his 25th straight
start, tying a team record set by right-hander Dwight Gooden from
June 2, 1993 through June 24, 1994.
Rays 7, White Sox 5
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Tampa Bay got a surprisingly strong start
from call-up Matt Andriese and patched together 14 hits to beat
Chicago.
Andriese, called up from Triple-A Durham Thursday night, gave up
just two unearned runs in 5 2/3 innings, his longest outing of the
season. The Rays got another three hits from rookie outfielder Joey
Butler, with nothing more than a single factoring in all seven of
their runs.
Chicago got three runs in the seventh -- two on a home run by Jose
Abreu -- to cut a 6-2 Rays lead to a single run, but the Rays padded
that in the bottom of the inning and the bullpen held on to end the
White Sox's three-game win streak.

Brewers 8, Nationals 4
MILWAUKEE -- Aramis Ramirez doubled three times and drove in five
runs and Mike Fiers struck out eight as Milwaukee beat Washington at
Miller Park.
Fiers (3-6) scattered five hits and three walks in seven innings,
including solo home runs by Bryce Harper and Tyler Moore.
But they proved to be non-factors as the Milwaukee offense sprang to
life behind Ramirez and pounded out 16 hits. Gerardo Parra and Adam
Lind also finished with three hits and Ryan Braun and Scooter
Gennett each added two.
The Brewers won for the sixth time in the last eight games.
Reds 5, Cubs 4
CHICAGO -- Todd Frazier went 2-for-5 with three runs scored,
including the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, as Cincinnati topped
Chicago.
Eugenio Suarez lined a one-out single to shallow left off Cubs
reliever Hector Rondon to score Frazier from third and give the Reds
the lead.
Suarez, called up Thursday from Triple-A Louisville for his
Cincinnati debut, went 1-for-4. Frazier had a double, solo homer,
scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Angels 5, Athletics 4
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Home runs by Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun in the
bottom of the eighth inning lifted Los Angeles to a win over Oakland
at Angel Stadium.
Josh Reddick had given the A's a 4-3 lead with a two-run homer in
the seventh, but the Angels bounced back in the eighth against A's
reliever Evan Scribner. Scribner (1-1) had replaced starter Jesse
Chavez, who allowed three runs in seven innings and was in line for
the victory before Trout and Calhoun turned the game upside down.
Angels reliever Jose Alvarez (1-1) got the victory for the Angels,
who won the game with manager Mike Scioscia watching the final three
innings from his clubhouse office after being ejected for the first
time this season.
Pirates 1, Phillies 0 (13 innings)
PITTSBURGH -- Starling Marte singled in Chris Stewart for the game's
only run as Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia in 13 innings.
Stewart singled with one out and moved to second on a groundout. He
scored as Marte singled over the mound and past diving infielders
for the walk-off winner.
The walk-off was the Pirates' first of the season, as well as their
first extra-innings win of the campaign. Antonio Bastardo earned the
victory after pitching a scoreless 13th.
Diamondbacks 1, Giants 0
SAN FRANCISCO -- Right-hander Chase Anderson took a no-hitter into
the seventh inning and combined with two relievers on a two-hit
shutout, lifting Arizona to a shutout victory over San Francisco in
the opener of a three-game series.
Facing the Giants for the first time in his two-year career, the
27-year-old lost a no-hitter on Buster Posey's infield hit with one
out in the seventh.
It was the only hit Anderson allowed in seven innings en route to
his first win since May 20. He hasn't lost since April 27, an
eight-game stretch during which he's gotten a no-decision six times.
Dodgers 4, Padres 3
SAN DIEGO -- Pinch-hitter Alex Guerrero singled home Andre Ethier
with the tie-breaking run with two-out in the eighth-inning to give
Los Angeles a come-from-behind win over San Diego at Petco Park.
Guerrero's soft liner to center capped a two-run Dodgers eighth
after the Padres had scored three in the bottom of the seventh
against Clayton Kershaw and reliever Yimi Garcia on homers by Clint
Barmes and Derek Norris.
For 6 1/3 innings, Dodgers ace Kershaw blanked the Padres on three
hits and a walk while striking out 11. But the Padres rallied from a
2-0 deficit with homers by Barmes and Norris sandwiching an error.
