Thompson had five goals and 18 points in 80 regular-season games in his first season with the Ducks. He had two goals and six points in 12 Stanley Cup playoff games with them.

The eight-season veteran has 44 goals and 103 points in 471 regular-season games with the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ducks.
