Thompson, 30, sustained the injury when he was hit into the
boards in the Ducks' regular-season finale in Arizona in April.
Thompson had five goals and 18 points in 80 regular-season games
in his first season with the Ducks. He had two goals and six
points in 12 Stanley Cup playoff games with them.
The eight-season veteran has 44 goals and 103 points in 471
regular-season games with the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders,
Tampa Bay Lightning and Ducks.

The Ducks signed defenseman Marcus Pettersson to a three-year,
entry-level contract.
Pettersson, 19, spent the 2014-15 season with Sweden's
Skelleftea AIK, Skelleftea's Under-20 team and Vita Hasten.
A second-round draft pick by Anaheim in 2014, Pettersson has
appeared in many international tournaments for Sweden. He played
in the 2014 Under-18 World Championship and the 2013 World
Under-17 Hockey Challenge, winning the gold medal.

The Montreal Canadiens agreed to terms on a two-year contract
with defenseman Nathan Beaulieu.
Beaulieu, 22, played 64 games during the 2014-15 regular season,
recording one goal and eight assists while accumulating 45
penalty minutes.
He was the Canadiens' first selection (17th overall) in the 2011
NHL Entry Draft.
