[June 16, 2015]  LINCOLN - Charles H. “Chuck” aka “Charlie” Sloan, 89, passed away at 4:49 a.m. on June 13, 2015 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation:  From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday June 17,  at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 18 at the funeral home

Obituary

Lincoln- Charles H. “Chuck” aka “Charlie” Sloan, 89, passed away at 4:49 a.m. on June 13, 2015 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Chuck was born on November 11, 1925 in Elkhart; son of Charles H. and Jessie DeFrates Sloan. He married Mary Ann Shay on September 10, 1949 in Lincoln. She survives him after 65 years of marriage.

Also surviving Chuck are his children: Terry (Martha) Sloan of Atlanta and Carol (Dennis) Sheley of Lincoln; grandchildren: Charles M. (Gail) Sloan, David (Tiffany) Sloan, and Andrew (Charla) Sheley; great grandchildren: Ryan, Hayden, Tate, Sara, Kirsten, Matthew, Lucas, Ean, and Catherine; one sister: Helen Singley of Lincoln; one brother-in-law: Edgar Logan of Lincoln. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters.

Chuck was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Atlanta American Legion Post #341, and the Lincoln VFW. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 where he served in the South Pacific. He was a planner in the office at Lehn & Fink and retired from there after 40 years.

 

Services for Chuck will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 18, 2015 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Roger David and Rev. Steve Blaum officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday June 17, 2015 also at the funeral home. Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service where military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Memorial Home Hospice or Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
