Chris Young threw seven scoreless innings and also helped his own
cause with two hits and three RBIs as the Kansas City Royals cruised
to a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Young (6-2) struck out three and scattered five hits while not
walking a single batter to improve 5-2 as a starter.

Nationals 16, Rays 4
The Washington Nationals set season highs with 23 hits and 16 runs,
and they ended the Tampa Bay Rays' four-game winning streak in a big
way.
Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper and first baseman Clint
Robinson each finished a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
Washington (34-31) plays host to Tampa Bay (36-30) for the next two
games, having set the season high for runs and hits for a Rays
opponent.

Orioles 19, Phillies 3
Manny Machado and Chris Parmelee each homered twice as the Baltimore
Orioles set a new team record with eight homers and handed the
Philadelphia Phillies their eighth straight loss.
David Lough hit a three-run homer as the Orioles (33-31) finished
with 17 hits and scored runs in all but one inning.

Rangers 3, Dodgers 2
Texas catcher Robinson Chirinos led off the bottom of the ninth with
a homer, giving the Rangers a walk-off win over the Los Angeles
Dodgers.
The Rangers (35-30) moved five games over .500 for the first time
this season with their fourth walk-off win of the year. The Dodgers
(37-28) lost for the third time in four games.
Texas rookie right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez had a 2-1 lead and was
just two outs from his second shutout in his fourth Major League
start before Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner tied the game with
a two-run homer.

Cardinals 3, Twins 2
Michael Wacha allowed three hits in 6 1/3 innings and first baseman
Mark Reynolds delivered a key hit for the third consecutive game as
St. Louis toppled the Minnesota Twins.
Wacha improved to 9-2 for the Cardinals (43-21).
Minnesota (34-30) lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Astros 8, Rockies 5
Third baseman Luis Valbuena belted a pair of home runs to pace
another power-laden offensive attack as the Houston Astros defeated
the Colorado Rockies.
Colorado (28-36) dropped its 13th consecutive interleague road game.

Giants 6, Mariners 2
Third baseman Matt Duffy went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three
RBIs and the San Francisco Giants ended their nine-game home losing
streak with a victory over the Seattle Mariners.
The Giants' nine-game skid was tied for the second longest home
losing streak in franchise history since 1912, just two shy of the
11-game streak in 1940 at the Polo Grounds in New York.

Athletics 6, Padres 5
Second baseman Eric Sogard bounced a run-scoring single through the
middle of the Padres infield with two out in the top of the ninth to
give the Oakland A's a victory over San Diego and a sweep of the
two-game interleague series.
It was the third straight loss for the Padres and their first under
Pat Murphy, who was named the club's interim manager after the team
fired Bud Black.

Red Sox 9, Braves 4
Brock Holt became the first Red Sox player to hit for the cycle
since John Valentin on June 6, 1996, tripling in the eighth inning
to cap the rare feat as Boston snapped a season-high, seven-game
losing streak with a win over the Atlanta Braves.
The second baseman singled in the first, doubled in the fifth and
homered in the seventh to set himself up for the historic
three-bagger with two outs in the eighth.

Mets 3, Blue Jays 2
Matt Harvey snapped out of the longest slump of his career when the
New York Mets right-hander threw seven shutout innings and helped
his own cause with an RBI double in a win over the Toronto Blue
Jays.
The Mets (36-30) swept the two-game series from the Jays (34-32).
Harvey (7-4) had a 7.20 ERA in his previous four starts but bounced
back in a big way.

Pirates 3, White Sox 0
Right-hander Charlie Morton pitched seven shutout innings and the
Pittsburgh Pirates completed a sweep of the Chicago White Sox in a
two-game series and notched their sixth straight victory.

Todd Frazier blasted two solo home runs and the Cincinnati Reds
snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over the Detroit
Tigers.

Angels 4, Diamondbacks 1
Albert Pujols hit his American League-leading 19th home run,
propelling the Los Angeles Angels to a win over the Arizona
Diamondbacks Tuesday night at Angel Stadium.

Marlins 12, Yankees 2
The Miami Marlins scored a franchise-record eight runs in the first
inning and went on to defeat the New York Yankees.
Yankees (34-30) slugger Alex Rodriguez, who is five hits short of
3,000, did not play.

Carlos Santana launched a three-run homer and reached base four
times, leading the Cleveland Indians to an interleague victory over
the Chicago Cubs.
