Reds 5, Marlins 0
Marlon Byrd homered in his return to the lineup, and Mike Leake
pitched seven solid innings, lifting the Cincinnati Reds to a
victory over the Miami Marlins.
Byrd was reinstated from the disabled list on Friday after missing
15 games with a fractured right wrist and homered in his second
at-bat.
Third baseman Todd Frazier and catcher Tucker Barnhart each had a
pair of hits including a double for Cincinnati (31-35), which has
won 11 of 15 against the Marlins (29-40) over the past two seasons.

Yankees 7, Tigers 2
Alex Rodriguez reached 3,000 career hits by hitting a solo home run
with two outs in the bottom of the first inning off Justin Verlander
and the New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers.
Rodriguez became the 29th player and joined Derek Jeter as the only
players to do it for the Yankees (37-30).
The Tigers fell to 34-33.

Cardinals 12, Phillies 4
Catcher Yadier Molina and second baseman Kolton Wong hit two-run
homers as the St. Louis Cardinals battered the Philadelphia Phillies
in a meeting of the Major Leagues' best and worst teams.
Shortstop Jhonny Peralta, who had three RBIs in all, added a two-run
double for the Cardinals (44-23), as did first baseman Mark
Reynolds.
First baseman Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer for the Phillies
(23-46), who lost for the 10th time in 11 games and the 20th time in
24.

Red Sox 7, Royals 3
Second baseman Mookie Betts stroked a career-high four hits and
third baseman Pablo Sandoval had his sixth straight two-hit game as
the Boston Red Sox pounded out a victory over the Kansas City
Royals.
Betts went 4-for-5 and is 15-for-23 in a seven-game hitting streak.
The Red Sox (30-39) knocked the first-place Royals to 38-26.

Braves 2, Mets 1
Second baseman Jace Peterson drove in two runs with a long double in
the eighth inning to spark the Atlanta Braves to a come-from-behind
win over the New York Mets.
The comeback gave rookie Matt Wisler (1-0) a win in his Major League
debut. The right-hander pitched eight innings and allowed one run
and six hits to the Mets (36-33).

Rays 4, Indians 1
Joey Butler, Asdrubal Cabrera and Steven Souza hit solo home runs to
lead the streaking Tampa Bay Rays to a win over the Cleveland
Indians.

The Rays (39-30), who lead the American League East, won seven of
their last eight games and 15 of their last 20. They are 13-5 in the
month of June.

Blue Jays 5, Orioles 4
Right-hander Marco Estrada lost a no-hitter in the eighth inning and
the Toronto Blue Jays held on to defeat the Baltimore Orioles.
Estrada (5-3) was charged with one run in seven innings for the Blue
Jays (37-32).
Baltimore scored a pair of runs in the eighth and ninth innings to
nearly erase a 5-0 lead.

Twins 7, Cubs 2
Phil Hughes had his best outing of the season and Trevor Plouffe
knocked in four runs as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Chicago
Cubs for their third consecutive victory.
Hughes lasted eight innings for the second time this season -- his
first in a win -- and allowed one run and two hits for the Twins
(37-30).

Rangers 2, White Sox 1
Pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland lined a two-run single with the bases
loaded and two outs in the ninth inning to lead the Texas Rangers to
a win against the Chicago White Sox.
Moreland's sharp single to right field lifted Texas (37-31) to their
sixth victory in the past eight games. The Rangers (37-31) won for
the third time in 27 games this season when trailing after eight
innings.
The White Sox (28-38) lost their eighth consecutive game and fell a
season-worst 10 games below .500.

Nationals 4, Pirates 1
Rookie starting pitcher Joe Ross fanned 11 batters and pitched into
the eighth inning, and catcher Wilson Ramos had two hits and two
RBIs as the Washington Nationals beat Pittsburgh to snap the
Pirates' eight-game winning streak.
With the win Washington (35-33) snapped a four-game home losing
streak while the Pirates (39-28) lost on the road for just the
second time in nine outings.
