Reds 5, Pirates 2
The Reds scored four runs before the Pittsburgh Pirates had even
picked up their bats as Cincinnati coasted to a 5-2 victory.
Left fielder Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs
to lead Cincinnati's (33-37) 12-hit attack.
Pirates (40-31) right-hander Gerrit Cole did not pitch through the
fifth inning for the first time this year. Cole (11-3) was charged
for a season-high five runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Cardinals 6, Marlins 1
Jason Heyward homered for the third straight game, leading the St
Louis Cardinals to a 6-1 win over the Miami Marlins.
The Cardinals, who have the best record in baseball at 47-24, also
got a two-run homer from second baseman Kolten Wong in the third
inning.
Miami (30-43) got another homer from Giancarlo Stanton, who has a
Major League-leading 27.

Dodgers 5, Cubs 2
Adrian Gonzalez and Justin Turner homered early and the Los Angeles
Dodgers snapped a two-game losing streak with a victory over the
Chicago Cubs.
The Dodgers (40-33) never trailed after a second-inning solo homer
from Gonzalez and padded the lead in the third with Turner's
three-run shot
Five Dodgers relievers combined to shut out the Cubs (39-31).

Angels 2, Astros 1 (13 innings)
Taylor Featherston's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the
13th inning lifted the Los Angeles Angels to a 2-1 win over the
Houston Astros.
The Angels' (37-36) bullpen combined to throw seven scoreless
innings in relief of starter Andrew Heaney.
The AL West-leading Astros fell to 42-32.

Yankees 10, Phillies 2
Ivan Nova pitched effectively into the seventh inning in his first
start in more than 14 months as the New York Yankees rolled to a
rout of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Returning from Tommy John surgery, Nova (1-0) allowed three hits in
6 2/3 innings.
Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Jose Pirela drove in two runs
apiece for the Yankees (39-33), who snapped a three-game losing
streak.

Blue Jays 1, Rays 0 (12 innings)
Chris Colabello hit a solo home run in the 12th inning to lift the
Toronto Blue Jays to a 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Blue Jays (39-35) right-hander Marco Estrada took a perfect game
into the eighth inning and finished 8 2/3 innings while striking out
10 batters.
The Rays (41-33) have lost three of four.

Red Sox 5, Orioles 1
David Ortiz hit a two-run homer during Boston's five-run,
sixth-inning rally and Clay Buchholz struck out seven as the Red Sox
beat the Baltimore Orioles.
Mookie Betts had an RBI single in the sixth and extended his hitting
streak to 11 straight games for the Red Sox (32-41), who ended a
six-game skid against their American League East rival Orioles
(37-34).

Nationals 2, Braves 1 (11 innings)
Shortstop Ian Desmond drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly
to left field with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning off
reliever David Aardsma as the Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta
Braves.
The first-place Nationals (39-33) won their fifth game in a row and
the third-place Braves (35-37) fell to 16-22 on the road.

Brewers 4, Mets 1
Scooter Gennett homered, Adam Lind hit an RBI double and Jimmy
Nelson allowed only two hits over eight innings as the Milwaukee
Brewers beat the New York Mets.
The Mets (36-37) have lost a season-high seven straight and fell to
a game below .500 for the first time since they were 2-3 on April
11.

A's 8, Rangers 2
Oakland third baseman Brett Lawrie drilled a grand slam in the first
inning and the streaking Athletics never looked back in a victory
over the Texas Rangers.
Oakland (33-41) has won eight of its last 10 games and will look to
sweep Texas (37-35) in the finale of the three-game series on
Thursday.

Twins 6, White Sox 1
Left fielder Shane Robinson and second baseman Brian Dozier each had
two hits and Phil Hughes tossed eight strong innings as the
Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox.
Minnesota (39-33) spoiled White Sox (31-40) left-hander Chris Sale's
bid for history. Sale was attempting to become the first pitcher to
strike out at least 12 batters in six consecutive games.
Sale struck out 10 in the loss.

Indians 8, Tigers 2
Carlos Carrasco pitched eight strong innings and Francisco Lindor
hit his first Major League home run as the Cleveland Indians beat
the Detroit Tigers.
Cleveland (33-38) salvaged the third game of the series with Detroit
(37-35) behind the right-handed Carrasco (9-6), who gave up two runs
on five hits and one walk, striking out seven.

Royals 8, Mariners 2
The Kansas City Royals bounced back from a complete-game shutout to
shell the Seattle Mariners 8-2.
Kansas City (41-28) used a seven-run fourth inning to jump out to a
big lead in left-handed starter Danny Duffy's first game off the
disabled list. Duffy only allowed one earned run over 4 2/3 innings
but wasn't part of the decision.
Seattle (33-40) pitcher Mike Montgomery had blanked the Royals 6-0
one day earlier.

Giants 6, Padres 0
Buster Posey belted a grand slam and Ryan Vogelsong threw six
shutout innings to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 6-0 victory
over the San Diego Padres.
The Giants (39-34) remain one game behind the first-place Los
Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
The Padres fell to 35-39.

Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 7
The Diamondbacks rallied for three runs in the ninth inning, capped
by pinch hitter Aaron Hill's sacrifice fly, as Arizona beat the
Colorado Rockies.
