Obituary
Beverly J. Buttell, 84, of Elkhart passed away on
Friday, June 19, 2015 at 9:53 a.m. at St. John’s
Hospice in Springfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday,
June 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St .Patrick’s
Catholic Church in Elkhart with Rev. Simon Taabu
officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. on Monday evening at the Peasley Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. prior to
the visitation.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Beverly June Dial was born on August 10, 1930 in
Lincoln the daughter of Ambrose Harrison and Lily
Bertha Garman Dial. She married Joseph Maurice
Buttell on January 2, 1954 at the St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death
on September 29, 2012.
She is survived by her children: Joseph Mark
(Brooke) Buttell of Lincoln, Nancy (Tom) Davis of
Elkhart, Julie Ann (Todd) Dumstorf of Arlington
Heights, Ten Grandchildren: Sara McNeely, Jenny
(Adam) Greenblatt, Nick (fiancé Katie Buse) Davis,
Casey Davis, Mark (Cyra) Buttell, Betsy (Noah
Herman) Buttell, Mallory (AJ) Bagaglio, Evan
Dumstorf, Tori Dumstorf, and Molly Buttell. Five
great grandchildren: Harper, Piper, Carlie,
Scarlett, and Ari. |
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry
Elmer Dial, Ralph Burton Dial, and Harold Dial.
Beverly graduated from the Lincoln High School in
1948.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in
Elkhart and was the organist there for approximately
40 years. She also served as the parish secretary
for several years.
Beverly was employed with the State of Illinois
until she was married to Joseph at which time she
became a farmer's wife. In later years when her
children were grown, she worked part-time at the
Springfield Clinic and Sangamon OB/ Gynecologist
office as insurance claims adjuster. She loved
accounting and always took pride in her ability to
balance the books.
Her hobby's included camping trips with friends and
family, shopping, and she loved spending time with
her children and grandchildren. Beverly felt that
being with her family was the best way to spend her
time.
Memorials may be made to Love Repeated or Catholic
Charities of Springfield or St. Patrick's Catholic
Church.
