Charles “Charlie” Wolpert, 80, passed away at 1:03
a.m. on June 25, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital
in Decatur.
Charlie was born on August 24, 1934 in Lincoln; the
son of Marion “Satch” Charles and Louise Caroline
Marie Koester Wolpert. He was united in marriage to
Ruthann Twardos on December 11, 1964, in Atlanta.
She survives in Lincoln. Also surviving Charlie are
his children; John (Leslie) Wolpert of Blue Mound,
James “Jim” (Susan) Wolpert of New Holland;
grandchildren: Hunter and Courtney, siblings;
Kenneth Gene Wolpert, Donald Dean Wolpert, Marilyn
Louise Greathouse, Joan Kay Piller, Robert Wayne
Wolpert, step grandchildren; Jason (Angela) Saffer,
Tracy Saffer, Morgan King; RJ King, step-great
grandchildren; Carter Saffer, Shiori Saffer, Leynox
King, and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was
preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin
“Bodge” and Larry Lee and his sister Patricia
Louise.

Charlie was a Newspaper Pressman. Charlie served his
country in the U.S. Army. He was of the Lutheran
faith. Charlie was a member of the American Legion
post #263, a fifty year member of the Moose Lodge,
Eagles Lodge #2708, and the NRA.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial
Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday
July 2, at
St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln. Memorial donations may
be made in Charlie’s name to the American Legion
post # 263, 1740 Fifth Street, Lincoln, IL 62656, or
to the Symphony of Decatur, 2530 North Monroe St.,
Decatur, IL 62526.
